Dan3345
To anyone using AMD who cares, I saw that 12.7 came out today. The notes for it says that is potentially adds up to 25% better performance in skyrim specifically. http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/windows/Pages/radeonaiw_vista64.aspx I'm downloading now to try it out. 25% performance boost always sounds welcome assuming they can deliver. ginnyfizz
It looks as if the improvements only apply to the 7xxx series of cards, and mine is *only* a 6970.
Dan3345
It looks as if the improvements only apply to the 7xxx series of cards, and mine is *only* a 6970.I just went to all my typical benchmarking locations in skyrim with both 12.7 drivers and cap, and I did noticed on High settings I was able to get a constant 60+ fps. Something I have never been able to do before. Usually at the max my fps is 50-55. So it did add at least another 5 fps. I am using two 6950's so its doing something for 6 series cards. forthemods08
Do NOT install this beta.. this screws up the skyrim HUD. It makes your health bar+enemy's bar not move at all when being hitDoes not adjust your level up bar as you progressand makes the magic/stamina bars deplete past their lines.. you'll see what i mean if you try the drivers... or maybe its some sort of mod conflict.. but i went back to 12.6 and everything is fine. tetradite
Does it also give us an extra 25% CTD's, freezes and failure for Crossfire mode to start, like usual? http://forums.nexusmods.com/public/style_emoticons/dark/biggrin.gif I'll go get it in a minute, see how my 7750's like it (or not). Elsarian
Considering that people are having HUD issues, I am going to avoid this beta until they officially release it. I learned my lesson with updating to some of Skyrim's beta patches and listening to the issues that people are having. However, is it proven that this happens with the vanilla HUD? Maybe some of the users are using a mod that changes the interface in some way and the beta drivers could be screwing around with it. Has it been confirmed? I've got no HUD or UI mods, don't run SKSE, no ENB currently, and a very small mod list (and nothing has been installed then deleted), and a very stable game atm. Just benchmarked pre-upgrade, I'll let you know in about half an hour ;) Edited July 7, 2012 by tetradite

tetradite
Right, here's my results. 2x7750s, benchmarked with FRAPS.All other settings (basically Ultra with AA back a notch) remained the same, other than the drivers. No UI or HUD mods as stated before. This is my usual run around Whiterun benchmarking route, taking in every bit of the city at least once, same route each time. 12.6 Drivers: 2012-07-07 02:03:16 - TESVFrames: 8479 - Time: 171227ms - Avg: 49.519 - Min: 35 - Max: 62 2012-07-07 02:06:21 - TESVFrames: 8559 - Time: 171429ms - Avg: 49.927 - Min: 33 - Max: 62 2012-07-07 02:09:45 - TESVFrames: 8761 - Time: 174955ms - Avg: 50.076 - Min: 36 - Max: 63 12.7 Drivers: 2012-07-07 02:47:49 - TESVFrames: 9646 - Time: 169510ms - Avg: 56.905 - Min: 41 - Max: 62 2012-07-07 02:50:45 - TESVFrames: 9707 - Time: 170400ms - Avg: 56.966 - Min: 41 - Max: 62 2012-07-07 02:54:00 - TESVFrames: 9589 - Time: 170135ms - Avg: 56.361 - Min: 45 - Max: 62 So, the good news is, it's put a good 6-7fps on to my performance, and it's done it by pulling up the minimum. Excellent. I have NO issue with the HUD whatsoever. BUT, Catalyst now loses it's stored application profiles every time the system is restarted. Every time. I also got a game freeze on my first aborted attempt to benchmark with the 12.7 drivers, but I can't repeat it so that could just be Skyrim being Skyrim.
