tyreil829
Actually Sheppard, I think you mean that you run the risk of dying at any moment but not everyone puts their "life on the line" every day. That's is completely different. Examples: Police officers, soldiers in combat, small dog owned by large lady, etc. LHammonds i disagree even if you work for simple people there is always a chance you could die Col John Sheppard
LHammonds
i disagree even if you work for simple people there is always a chance you could dieI think you still misunderstand what is being said. Anyone can die at a moments notice (I already said this)...that's part of life. Not everyone risks their life (knowingly and on purpose)...that is what's implied when somebody uses the phrase "putting your life on the line." @ Lisnpuppy: 1st - I have never used illegal drugs, never will and do not recommend it to anyone. Unfortunately, not many people can say the same due to our curious nature.2nd - I wouldn't want to run the risk of burning down our house. ;) LHammonds
hoots7
I was doing "laps" around my pasture and using my iPhone to record the amount of time it took with each successive lap going from the outside in and in 2nd gear at the optimal RPM, it took 6.5 minutes to go around the parameter of the 8 acres I was mowing. I stopped too many times to get a good idea of how long the entire job took though.I remembered that the iPhone has a built-in camera and that somebody wanted me to take an "action" shot so I did the best I could since my hand was attached to my arm which was attached to me (currently).I also found out that one should not be getting side-tracked messing with features of an iPhone one is not familiar with while operating heavy (and powerful) machinery (thanks Michlo!). If anyone has seen the kids movie called "Cars" by Pixar, you can probably recall the cow-tractor tipping scene where they honk their horn and the tractors pop a wheelie and fall backwards. Well, I didn't fall backwards but I sure did pop a wheelie! I have a lever that keeps the gas applied at a constant RPM but that is only to be used when in "cruise mode"...well, I got side tracked and didn't think about it and went from one gear to the next higher gear and popped the clutch. To my surprise I was doing a wheelie before I knew it. :whistling: Here I am running over all the field mice I can. Sure wish I had my 10/22 or 9mm with me! The AR-15 would probably be overkill. I hear that varmint-killer bullets make soft tissue explode with nothing left but pelt. ;) You can see the tree line behind me which is where the creek is located and a few rolls of hay. Here is 1st person view from the tractor model. ;) You can see my house, pool, shed and cars as well as a possible hint that I'm mowing too fast and cannot round corners very well. LHammondsYour pics are cool, aah, the smell of fresh cut grass, looks like a lot of fun.

Ethre
I'm sorry I missed this thread earlier. Very humorous. But seriously, with the cost of hay as high as it is, what are you doing mowing instead of cutting for hay? It'd help when you decide you need a full sized tractor and it comes time to write the check.... And most importantly, never take electronics out to the hay field. That's just asking for trouble. (yeah, I've ah, lets say "decided to upgrade" some goodies after they met the sickles on the swather . . . ) Cheers
MalachiDelacot
well Conan i see you like speeding on your own tractor but i dont see why you need to wear goggles while driving a 30 MPH tractor? Col John Sheppard The shades are to be cool, man. It attracts the babes.
LHammonds
well, the shades are actually my shooting glasses cause I couldn't find my shades. ;) I only have a mower right now. The fellow that handled the hay went AWOL. I didn't expect to buy the tractor right now but it was too good of a deal to pass...no money for extras ATM. Have to wait until next year before I can look to "augment" my collection. :) LHammonds
Ethre
Be careful, machinery can get expensive, and the depreciation tends to be horrible (although not so bad on John Deere in general). I love the smell of fresh cut hay.
