Menu CTD's

Hello,

I'm experiencing frequent CTD's when getting into Inventory/Magic/Looting menus.

This doesn't happen all the time, sometimes it takes some dead enemies to loot before it decides to CTD, and sometimes it happens on the first time I try accessing the menu.

I did notice that sometimes, before CTDing, one of the interface keys looks like a broken vertex, however now I can't get this to happen again to take a screenshot.

This started happening right after finishing the opening scene in Helgen. I exited the cave, walked for 50 meters, quicksaved and activated all the mods I needed, so the save can't be corrupt.

Meanwhile, I tried:

-Deactivating all my mods and adding them back in, one by one (Couldn't find the culprit because the CTD's don't happen all the time).

-Installing SafetyLoad

-Implementing the 4GB patch.

-Deactivating ENB (Still happens).

-Cleaning my mods and masters using TES5Edit.

-Sorting the load order with LOOT after deactivating/reactivating every mod.

 

None of these seem to work.

I'm asking for your help, I'm really clueless and I have been trying to get this to work for the last two days.

EDIT: Cleaned mods with TES5Edit, implemented a bashed patch.

Managed to get a screenshot of the menu before going into the menu again and crashing.

EDIT: The issue is solved.

For whoever else having this problem:

 

After a LOT of research and screwing around, the answer was the Safety Load, which seems to not work well with SkyUI.

I had to remove it and instead install SSME - Skyrim Startup Memory Editor.

it's good that you are using LOOT, but, you are missing 2/3 of the puzzle

 

1) Wrye - You an NOT use that many mods with out a bashed patch from Wrye or a smashed patch from mator smash

 

2) Tes5Edit - Wrye will tell you if you have any orange mods in your load order, these are fixed using Tes5Edit by sorting their masters

 

Follow my guide STEP by STEP below and do all of steps 2 & 3 ( and appendix 1 if needed )

does it happen when checking containers and dead bodies only? or sometimes in your inventory? or both. if its happening exclusively when checking bodies and containers then i'm leaning towards leveled list issue which wrye bash would remedy. according to the front page Weapons and Armor Fixes Remade, the plugin called Weapons and Armor _TrueWeaponsLvlList.esp should be at bottom of load order, yours is far from there(did loot do that to you,oops) it should be patched with Bashed Patch as well. unrelated you should get the patch for the hi res dlcs and,or?, the optimized version.

I did everything you said, implemented a bashed patch, made sure none of the plugins show as red or yellow and arranged the load order with LOOT.

I cleaned my mods with the TES5Edit.

I also made sure the skse.ini file is configured properly, and uncleaned my update.esm file (As I understand I'm not supposed to clean it with TES5Edit).

None of this solves the issue.

Got any other solutions?

No, it happens also when trying to access my inventory or Magic menu. I just can't anticipate exactly when it will happen.

Nevertheless, I tried your solution plus got the hi res patch.

The issue remains.

Have any other ideas?

4GB patch is installed but if enboost does not work stable you can be sure to face ctd with this modlist. you can check that with task manger. if you see no enbhost.exe as a running task while running skyrim that is for sure one of the reasons for ctd. my skyrim would instantly ctd without enboost. i would recommend to check enblocal.ini for correct configuration/enboost activation.

ok try this, i think i know what it may be

 

disable all of the hi-rez plugins and try the game

 

if it turns out to be them, try downloading them again, mannually, opening the zip and installing them manually also

hi rez is ok - i have that too - but enboost is vitaly important in this case. one misttyped value in enblocal.ini you can celebrate a happy ctd party :) good luck!

i tried using the hi-rez esp's and every time i installed them through the manager they would crash the game, but when i manually downloaded them, they worked fine

ah sorry i do not use such an esp. i'm playing just 4k high res with 250 esp. in taskmager my skyrim+enbhost.exe reaches at least 6GB memory size. so it would ctd even before a savegame is loaded in standard configuration and without enboost.
