All of this I did in one day! I need ideas for zones/classrooms/characters/new spells to add to my magic evolved mod! Please leave comments and thoughts! Thank you! Patrick2me
It looks pretty awesome so far. The College of Winterhold lacked the feeling of a school. Good luck on the project.

DaedalusMachina
I don't know about a school feeling, but it should definitely have some quarters for the testing and practicing of spells without risk of getting wandering mobs involved or hurt. Places to practice each school of magic. Mayhap a friendly, never-hostile neutral mob who summons a hostile creature of your choosing to blast. J3X
Awesome. Instead of just buying a book for a spell, what about you can choose to go a, for example Expert Alteration Course? One need to pay a certain amount of gold, have the required knowledge and course material (perhaps some rare books one need to find?). One then attends some lectures about the subject (could perhaps be done by sitting on a bench then fade to black). One either learns the spells after each lecture or it the end. Perhaps some examination could take place also?
phenderix
Exactly. Probably on first release you will still buy the spells from vendors but eventually you will earn them in other ways.I really like the exam idea. There could be a book someone has to read and then you have to pass the exam to learn the spell.

JanusForbeare
I'm not a Harry Potter fan, but I like the idea of a more academic approach to learning magic in Skyrim. A couple of questions/comments: 1) How lore-friendly will this be? Will it be suited to the vanilla Skyrim setting, or more of a homage to HP? 2) Where will the school be located? 3) Would it be possible for you to add captions under the screenshots? It would be nice to know what the different buildings are for. 4) Since you put a call out for ideas, here are a few: NPCS -A sentient book which serves as a personal tutor. The book could communicate by changing its text in response to player actions and quest events. This could either be done by swapping between different item references, so that the "book", as the player perceives it, is actually a number of different items, or with a static activator that gives you message box pop-ups. There may be better ways, but those are the first two that popped into my head. -An insane old wizard who no longer teaches, but is willing to share his secrets with the right student. Perhaps a groundskeeper, or some honoured but neglected functionary. -An extremely strict and nosy student responsible for discipline amongst his or her peers. Would likely have a group of toadies tagging along, helping to keep order. SPELLS Summon Incendiary Goat: I mentioned this on another thread somewhere. Essentially, summons a flaming goat that runs around in panic until its health reaches 0, at which point it explodes. Unpredictable but deadly. Duel: Moves both the player and his/her target to an empty cell, where they remain until one or the other is killed, or the spell expires. Counterspell: A ward that reflects magic, rather than absorbing it. Last Resort: A toggle-able spell that reduces your total magicka while active. If your health hits 10% with this spell active, you are transported to a random location somewhere in Skyrim. MISC -Allowing players to choose one of several possible NPCs as their mentor could be a fun development in the latter half of the questline. Perhaps there are power struggles going on amongst the administration, and each tutor has their own spell set and philosophy. A feature like this would not only add to the replay value of the mod, but would also give the player a close attachment to certain NPCs... and perhaps a fervent hatred of others (which is just as fun). phenderix
@Janus 1.) It will be lore-friendly. It is going to be loosely based off of ideas from harry potter but incorporate all the concepts from my magic evolved mod.2.) It is going to be a little south of Markarth within the borders of the default game3.) Just did :) Those are all really good ideas. I really like the dueling spell you brought up. In Harry Potter there is a thing called a wizard's duel - I could name the spell "Wizard's Duel" and it would teleport you both to a closed hallway where you could fight. Would be especially awesome with that new magic dueling mod someone created. ALSO - I have to note I have done all of this in little more than 1 day so it will get better and better.
