Azra3l71
Hey everyone, I had the same exact problem and I was lucky enough to fix it (although I'm not sure what exactly did it) so I'll share my experience and, hopefully, it'll help in figuring out a fix:After getting a warning message from BOSS while re-ordering my mods, I uninstalled all 3 SoS (I had latest versions installed). That's when the constant freezing begun. Just like many others, I couldn't play for more than a few minutes without getting a 2-3 seconds freeze which got really annoying pretty quick... I'd like to point out that before uninstalling SoS I never experienced any bloated game save or freezing. Matter of fact, I would've never even known about this problem if BOSS didn't notify me about the issue with SoS.I, luckily, had a backup of all my mods and was able to re-install SoS but using the latest game save didn't seem to get rid of the constant freezes and even going back to earlier saves didn't seem to help.I tried everything i could think of and, finally, I remembered I had a backup of all my saves (about a month old but I haven't played much lately and it's better than starting a whole new game...) and I simply copied those into my saves folder, started the game, loaded the latest save from that early backup and ...it freakin' worked!!! All my mods are installed (I have about 50 installed, INCLUDING SoS) and no more freezing! I played for a while and I haven't experienced any freeze or game save bloating. The game runs flawlessly (well, as flawless as it can be...).Sorry if someone already posted a similar solution (I quickly read throught the 12 pages and didn't seem to find anything) and I hope this can help. Edited August 27, 2012 by Azra3l71

r5r4y
So is this problem only with SoS-Civilization? Would you say it's safe to install The Wilds and Dungeons without any problems? I'll post the link I've found for SoS, but install at your own risk guys. I did NOT test this: http://atomvirus.de/Dowloads/Skyrim2012/ Maybe someone could take a look at it. xlcr
r5r4y, thanks for sharing these links to the older versions of the Sounds of Skyrim mod files. There were a few people without backups who unfortunately uninstalled Civilizations without tryingwhatever uninstall procedure fixes there are to create a clean gamesave and are now suffering bloat issues. Anyway, a copy of the Civilizations mod files for troubleshooting purposes might help if they're still looking.. In response to your question, these earlier versions of Dungeons (do not use the update) and Wilds (ok) do not contain PEX script files and are probably safe to use; but, why take a chance and install mods that have been retired by the modder who also advised everyone to uninstall the mods. Sounds_of_Skyrim_-_Civilization_1_0_Full_Version-20193-1-0.zip (CONTAINS PEX SCRIPTS).http://atomvirus.de/Dowloads/Skyrim2012/Sounds_of_Skyrim_-_Civilization_1_0_Full_Version-20193-1-0.zip Sounds_of_Skyrim_-_The_Dungeons_1_2_1_Update-8601-1-21.zip (CONTAINS PEX SCRIPTS).http://atomvirus.de/Dowloads/Skyrim2012/Sounds_of_Skyrim_-_The_Dungeons_1_2_1_Update-8601-1-21.zip Sounds_of_Skyrim_-_The_Dungeons_Full_1_1-8601.ziphttp://atomvirus.de/Dowloads/Skyrim2012/Sounds_of_Skyrim_-_The_Dungeons_Full_1_1-8601.zip Sounds_of_Skyrim_-_The_Wilds_1_0_1_Full_Version-10886.ziphttp://atomvirus.de/Dowloads/Skyrim2012/Sounds_of_Skyrim_-_The_Wilds_1_0_1_Full_Version-10886.zip Sounds_of_Skyrim_-_The_Dungeons_German_translation-11138-1-1.7zhttp://atomvirus.de/Dowloads/Skyrim2012/Sounds_of_Skyrim_-_The_Dungeons_German_translation-11138-1-1.7z thanks again for finding these, i would caution everyone to only use these for troubleshooting purposes sincethese are early versions and no longer fully supported by the modder as far as i know. kingdark
Seeing that it might be possible that no fix will be coming at all, has it been considered to simply try and recreate it? It might be better to start a new game using a new version of SoS then continue and hope for a fix. Considering there are so many modders around here it surprises the heck out of me that none of those have managed to figure out what the problem is. This probably has been suggested before, but does a clean install of skyrim and then using an old savegame get rid of the huge save games?
xlcr
kingdark, i suspect the fundamental problem is with rogue scripts embedded into savegames bythe last versions of the sounds of skyrim mods that contained PEX scripts which may have contained bugs and also further malfunctioned due to whatever unexpected changes Bethesda made to the Papyrus CK scripting language in the latest patches. In other words, the problem is probably not with the Skyrim install, its in the savegame. Not to sound negative/critical; but, the modder probably simply didn't feel like digging thru his programming;in addition to, figuring out what Bethesda did with Papyrus so he understandably pulled the mods and kindly asked everyone to uninstall.Unfortunately, by this time savegames were bloating and there was no guaranteed uninstall procedure or fix that i am aware of.Bloat issues became extreme if someone simply uninstalled the mod, which orphaned whatever rogue scriptswere still baked into savegames; specifically, the PEX scripts that came with Civilization i think. Anyway, if i were trying to fix this problem i'd try this procedure which someone reported worked for them.Re-install Civilizations with the download provided by r5r4y, load the savegame, travel somewhere far from any 'civilization', make a savegame, exit, load, use this procedure (from Julle64): 1. Load a game with the SoS mods installed. 2. Disable all the sounds by using the console commands:Startquest SosConfigCivilizationStartquest SosConfigThewildsStartquest SosConfigThedungeons 3. Then stopquest the mods by using the console commands:Stopquest SosConfigCivilizationStopquest SosConfigThewildsStopquest SosConfigThedungeons 4. Save the game and quit to desktop5. Deactivate the mods.6. Remove the mods and the scripts. i have no idea if this procedure actually works; but, it looks good to me..
kingdark
oh, that makes sense I suppose. It would have been too easy had it worked... Darn

Well... There are no other mods like this, the mod was awesome, and... Yeah, the mod was really awesome. From my current understanding, the bloating issue was caused by the scripts added in Sounds of Skyrim - The Dungeons Update and SoS - Civilization, in the other two I've found there are no scripts, only wav files. BTW, Where did the mod author said he stopped working on it? Edited August 28, 2012 by r5r4y
Georgiegril
but, why take a chance and install mods that have been retired by the modder who also advised everyone to uninstall the mods. Because they are freakin awesome! Plus as far as the wilds goes, the mod author reported that he had not gotten reports of bloat associated with that mod. (2r5r4y: the link is on the 3rd or 4th post f this thread) I am lucky to have my old download; however, I wish he would put that one back, or give permission for someone else to take it over. I did try without it for a bit, it was just...quiet. Too quiet.

I didn't test it myself yet, but If anyone got a clean install of Skyrim and a clean save... Edited August 29, 2012 by r5r4y
