cobaltofdoom Posted January 15, 2019 Share Posted January 15, 2019 Trying to install a bunch of updated textures to make the game prettier, unfortunately a number of these mods have some overlap in files.Because theres 20~ or so ones there are multiple conflicts and the load order is difficult to solve and cycles keep appearing because it's hard to figure out what rules I should put down. Is there a simple way of fixing this? You used to be able to, on other mod programs, to drag and drop the order of the mods being put in but that doesn't seem to be an option anymore? HadToRegister Posted January 15, 2019 Share Posted January 15, 2019 If you're trying to drag and drop PLUGINS for MOD conflicts for Textures and Meshes then you're doing it wrong.Most MOD conflicts Vortex will report are BSA, BA2, Textures and Meshes.You have to read the Mod Page Descriptions and see if they have any instructions such as "If you're using my mod with X Mod, then My mod needs to Load BEFORE X Mod in order to etc etc.Since you're talking about Textures, this means that you should be clicking on the MORE and SHOW buttons when the Conflict warning comes up, and then picking which MODS should load BEFORE or AFTER other mods, in order to solve the MOD conflicts instead of PLUGINSI've actually started enjoying this part and making resolving conflicts a game, because a lot of times, just picking one mod and saying LOAD AFTER will fix ALL of the conflictsPerhaps you should read the built in Knowledge base and watch the built in Tutorial Videos and leanr how Vortex deals with Conflicts, because if you keep on ending up with CYCLIC Rules, then you're sorting the Wrong things, because you're still locked into the "Manual Sorting" stuff from NMM Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

When I first started working with Vortex, I thought it was the worst thing ever made, because I was spending all of my time fighting against Vortex, because I was insisting on doing everything the way I had learned using NMM, which doesn't work in Vortex, because the NMM method is archaic and outdated. Now that I understand Vortex and how to work WITH Vortex, setting up a 200 mod setup takes a few minutes because I don't have to do all of the ridiculous micromanaging of the ESP load order, and can instead focus on the IMPORTANT stuff, such as which BSA, BA2, TExture/Mesh Folder should be overwriting the other etc. Once I stop trying to lord over the unimportant junk like INSISTING on manually sorting my ESP load order, when Vortex sorts it automatically, then my downloading, installing, and managing my load order went from a few hours, to minutes. Yea, true, I've been asking for the "Manage Rules" utility to also be implemented on the MOD Tab, because that's where rules are used most. The easiest way at the moment to deal with Rules on the Mod tab is to click the dropdown in the "Dependencies" column, pick "Conflicts" so your load order is filtered to only the mods that conflict and that way you can click on the lightning bolts on each mod and check what your Load Before and Load After are set to. I'd love it if the feature was added when you're setting setting up Load Before/After rules, where, for mods you've already set those rules up, instead of just showing an "i" next to them,, if the window would show whether it was set to load BEFORE or AFTER, because that's where it's easy to get cyclic rules, by just simply forgetting what mods are loading before/after With a Manage Rules feature on the MODS tab, you can look at the entire list of rules you've set Ideally though, once you get better at using Vortex, you'll find yourself using less and less rules, because you know how to 'strategically' place them.
