Matt007uk
Hi, Not my first time using vortex, I have mods that I have installed for Skyrim and they are working fine. I have downloaded a few texture mods for fallout 3. I have installed and enabled them in Vortex, but they aren't working. In the mods settings, the Mod Staging folder has been changed to C:\Vortex Mods. My Fallout 3 is also installed on the C:\ drive. I'm at a complete loss as to what to do. Is there a setting that I haven't enabled? As I said earlier, my Skyrim works fine. The only difference is that it is installed to D:\ drive. So what do I need to do??? Thanks in advance. gromulos
Don't use Vortex for FO3, what you should be using is FOMM - Fallout Mod Manager or NMM https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/20107
Matt007uk
Hi, Thanks for replying. NMM would have been easier I guess. I only installed a few texture mods, to make the game look a bit more modern. Anyway, I've fixed it now. There is a setting I missed, it adds the 'Archive invalidation' to the list. Once I enabled that, my mods started working
PxHCx
Don't use Vortex for FO3, what you should be using is FOMM - Fallout Mod Manager or NMM And here I was just about to download Vortex (last time I visited Nexus there was only the NMM) exactly to install FO3 mods... but also last time I had trouble with NMM for Skyrim and used the Mod Organizer (because of java patches that needed the "-Xmx1024m" line), and now I can't find where on Mod Organizer to create a new profile or something to also use it for Fallout 3... and does the Vortex means NMM got discontinued? And long story short, there isn't a Mod Manager out there you can trully use for all these games?

I am still using NMM, Vortex "looks" to be a great replacement, problem is it's broken at this time ( broken = buggy ) Use NMM for all your games EXCEPT Fallout New Vegas and Fallout 3 ( use FOMM for those 2 ) FOMM - https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/20107 NMM - Latest Build: 0.61.6 Edited January 16, 2019 by gromulos
M48A5
Use the latest (0.65.11) NMM that you can download from github.com. https://github.com/Nexus-Mods/Nexus-Mod-Manager/releases

AugustaCalidia
This news today from Steam may help explain your difficulty: "Fallout 3: Game of the Year Edition has been updated and no longer installs Games for Windows Live dependencies. If Fallout 3 was previously installed on Steam, we suggest uninstalling and reinstalling the title. The title no longer requires Games for Windows Live and will now launch.Update Version: 1.7.0.4 FixesGames for Windows Live dependency was removed.Improvements to stability and performance." FOSE no longer works with the update, but apparently Vortex is now recognizing the updated Fallout 3, thanks to the quick efforts of the Vortex team.
