Slaiv
Just a quick update on Microsoft's doings: They are currently developing new technology that is simply amazing. There are no words for it. Check IGN's interview for more information:IGN Microsoft XNA Interview And to show it, IGN's video. This is not a "cutscene"; this is what the actual in-game graphics would/will look like:IGN Microsoft XNA Demo Holy crap.
vandorssen
It seems they are just making a new buzz word to describe a trend that has been happening for several years. That’s just like Microsoft: Find some cool old technology, put a fancy catch name on it, and call it innovation. And if others do not adopt it (or more likely abandoned it long ago), they say the others have to "catch up with the times". And yes, I did read the article… ;)
Dark0ne
Maybe I'm just hard to please but nothing in that video amazed/shocked/surprised me...looks like need for speed underground to me! Its not about how a car looks, it about how many good looking cars you can get on the screen at a time, whilst offering an immersive environment with a plot written by professional story artists. Queue the up and coming Starship Troopers game. Anyone seen the film? If you've seen the film you'll recall the scene when they're defending the outpost from a trap set by the aliens. The opening scenes of the battle when literally hundreds upon hundreds of aliens are swarming towards the base? Put that in a game and thats one hell of a party. The game developers claim they have recreated this scene, with their custom built engine, allowing over 240 aliens on the screen at any one time. Now if this is true, just give me a damn gun and let me scream "You want some, huh? You want some? Yea, you like that? Huh? You want some more? huh? HUH?" all night. THATS what gets me excited, not some car thats been over polished then smashed into a big block of metal.
Ancalagon
Ugh, Paul Verhoven's Starship Troopers gave me the biggest case of indigestion, I hated that Movie. I hope you have read Robert A. Heinlein's book Dark0ne. It's way better than the movie, for sure. In the book, they have Mobile Suits (or mechanical armor) that they wear when fighting the Arachnids. But I found nothing to scream about when I saw this video. It just looks like Midnight Club or something...<_< I'm not big into racing games. vandorssen
Additionally, the video does not actually have anything to do with XNA. XNA will basically be a development platform for the next XBox. Those graphics could be produced on more or less any Direct X 9 graphics platform. Run 3Dmark 2003, and you will see the same thing (Battle of Proxycon and Troll's Lair tests). Only it will be much more choppy, unless you have a powerful computer.
Slaiv
First of all, it's not advertising for a game, just Microsoft's technology.. Second, those graphics beat any other game right now. If you want to say:"You want some, huh? You want some? Yea, you like that? Huh? You want some more? huh? HUH?" all night." Play Half-Life 2. And if you want tons of units on the screen, check EA's The Battle For Middle Earth. It looks awesome, as well:Check the movies on the right side. Dark0ne
Half-Life 2? What a joke. I've lost all faith in Valve since the flop of Steam and the bull crap they feed us about game delays. Screw Valve, their time has been and gone. I now HOPE that Half-Life 2 will join Duke Nukem Never in production hell and Valve will pay for the torment they have caused me! :)

Dark0ne
Nope, no joke. Couldn't give a damn about the game due to their lying and deceitful practises - plus I think that anyone who has their coding stolen through a software bug, which is easily fixed, deserves to go down - what a bunch of morons. I mean I don't even believe their excuse, but the excuse just made themselves look dummer. There's also a new rumour going around that the source has leaked yet again, this time due to it being physically stolen. LoL.
