Colorado Shooting

So I don't know how many of you heard (I'm sure even a lot outside the United States heard, especially since I know it did cause Paris to delay all showings of the movie) but early yesterday morning there was a shooting in Aurora, Colorado, USA.

At the midnight showing of the new "Batman" movie, a man opened fire on around 70 people. Ten died inside the theater, two later died at the hospital unable to recover from their injuries, 11 were left in critical condition, and the rest suffered minor injuries, including a man who was shot through the wall in an adjacent theater. About 30 are still hospitalized. The youngest, a 3-month old child is now released from the hospital.

The suspect bought four guns and 6,000 rounds of ammunition online within 60 days, all legally. The suspect was 24 year old honor student James Holmes, who had no criminal history. He entered the theater wearing a ballistics helmet, bulletproof vest, bulletproof leggings, gas mask and gloves. He detonated several tear gas bombs and began firing at people in the movie theater.

Minutes after the shooting police managed to arrest him. According to the officers Holmes claimed to be "The Joker" and also warned them he had his apartment booby trapped. Apparently he had hoped that setting off a stereo in his apartment would make someone file a noise complaint, then sending police to investigate the apartment. The explosives inside were enough to destroy the entire building and even the adjacent ones. Police believe his intent was to lure the majority of the police force to that location, so fewer officers would be available to respond to the theater.

I also read somewhere else that they found another explosive inside the theater, however I don't know if that is true. I'll try to post more as soon as more is confirmed. Holmes is to first scheduled to appear in court Monday.

Crazy crazy crazy man. Horribly sad watching all the people on the news. I feel like I should say "My heart goes out to them" but I know there's nothing to do that could possible comfort them after such a horrifying event.Which sounds awful I know, and I wish there was something I could do but saying cliché statements is really all there is to do.

So I honestly do hope for the best for those still hospitalized, and hope that those who are already fully recovered can someday overcome the horror of this shooting, and I hope that the families of the victims can stay strong for each other. And I hope that the shooter gets whatever justice is headed his way in full.

I heard about that just yesterday.

That really touched me, people just wanted to see the movie and then this happened. I really hope that this idiot gets what he deserves. I mean for f***s sake a 6 year old kid died!

I am REAL curious how this guy even got into the theater, considering the arsenal he was carrying.... an assault rifle with a 100 round drum magazine, a shotgun, and two pistols...... and someone sold him a ticket. WTF?

@ hey you .. he got in from the back door of the theater and then sneaked his way to the screening .. he fired two gas canisters into the crowd and then started shooting wildly .. yelling that he is the joker .. its depressing to hear kids were killed trying to watch a movie about a hero who fights crime to help others that are in need .. he's just gonna plead insanity .. :sad: .. he deserves to be locked up for 30 years at least ..

How does this imbecile dare kill a 6 year old child who wanted to see a movie about a superhero. I wouldn't even think about showing any mercy to that guy, he doesn't deserve any of it.

I said at least .. he deserves life in jail really .. I mean I agree with you IV000 , someone who kills people at the movies is a sicko and should be put in jail even if he is medically insane ..

I'm feeling really sad again, I knew people in Aurora, CO. No one from there has contacted me so I can only hope that they weren't hurt or killed.

 

If that guy who did the killing proved anything to me as I worry, he proved that his act caused more people to display their hate, for him.

I wonder if he actually hated anyone in that audience who may have died before he killed and wounded all the others.

 

Hoping to spot my old acquaintances I saw nothing about the crowd realizing any madness. In all the reviews I read there was just a few who said, "I thought it was a stunt."

 

Only one or two who sat right up front and saw him open fire had any fear or sense of concern occur to them as they struggled to save their lives and escape.

 

Hate! The opposite of love. Did he love anyone?

I was going to go out today and do some out door stuff. This chat has set me so I am so sad, I have to say, I pity me for being so aware of those who hate. Today I wanted to be a friend to people, I wanted to share my wealth. In my youth I wanted to marry a woman and have children. Now I just want a way out of the mess people are preparing for the next scene.

 

 

All I have is a miserable memory when it comes to those topics. So I turned to living each minute like new born child looking to learn something new every chance I got.

 

Now I am sure that I will not go outside for the sense of hatred may be turned on so high in people who are seeing red they may mistake me for someone they Hate.

Okay first he actually got into the theater through the normal entrance. What happened is he used the emergency exit to sneak out and get all his stuff.

And they released all the names of the people who were killed. Like Iv000 said, a 6 year old kid was one of them. A second victim was a 27 year old out celebrating his birthday. Another was a 25 year old sports broadcaster. She actually escaped a shooting before in Toronto, and then ended up there.

"Just a little more than a month ago, Ms. Ghawi described how she narrowly escaped a shooting rampage at a Toronto shopping mall on June 2. She had been in the food court. Her receipt showed that she made her purchase at 6:20 p.m. before what she said was an “odd feeling” propelled her to step outside.

 

The shots in Toronto rang out in the food court striking seven people about 6:23 p.m., she recalled. “It’s hard for me to wrap my mind around how a weird feeling saved me from being in the middle of a deadly shooting,” she wrote on

I'm not good with sad things, and all this is really getting to me. Especially the pictures...

 

Pagafyr some of my family used to live in Aurora, and I'm sure they still know people there, and likewise none of them have contacted us. My uncle also lives in Colorado, thankfully in Denver so he's alright.

 

And yeah, he'll probably get some ****ing lawyer who will manage to get him off the majority of his sentence because he's "insane".

I'm not one to normally say horrible things, but how about a bullet for every man, woman, and child he shot?

 

To add more sadness to this thread. 146 people are presumed dead after a ferry accident in Tanzania. The ferry was carrying around 291 passengers and was only made for 250. 145 of the passengers have been rescued, 69 died, and 77 are still missing. Happened last year near Zanzibar, a ferry carrying 800 people sank, 200 died.

Sorry for like overloading the thread with horrible news. I only hear depressing things apparently.

I know people who live in colorado .. still no word I hope their okay :sad: .. I don't know how he got the will to kill all those innocent lives .. they just wanted to watch a movie .. :sad:
