strike105x
Hi, this are my current PC specs: Processor: Intel i7 6700Motherboard: Gigabyte Z170-HD3 DDR3Cooling: Noctua NH-D15Memory: 16Gb (2x8) Kingston Savage @2400 Mhz DDR3Graphics Card: Sapphire Radeon RX 480 Nitro+ 4 Gb VRAM Power Supply: Seasonic S12II 620w BronzeCase: Sharkoon M25-W 7.1OS SDD: Samsung 850 Evo 120 GBGaming SDD: AMD Radeon R3 240 GBGaming HDD: TOSHIBA DT01ACA300 3TB*a bunch of other hdd's and accesories which are pointless*Display: LG 34UM58 34" IPSOS: Windows 10 Professional 64 bit And i found within my budget to upgrade to either a RTX 2060 or a GTX 1070, the RTX has slightly more performance, DLSS which sounds that it might be good in the future, but lower VRAM (6gb) and the GTX 1070 has more VRAM even if has slightly lower performance. Which would be better for heavy Skyrim/Oblivion/FO3&NV/FO4 modding ? More VRAM or the performance ?
HeyYou
Think I would go for performance, and future-proofing. :)
goranpaa
The 1070 are a great choise. Before you start to feel that it's too slow in the future. The video cards vill have developed beyond the RTX cards.Still, the 480 Nitro is still going strong as long as you play in 1920 x 1080 resoloution. I have the RX 580 4 gb Nitro, And it can handle a heavy modded Skyrim with much landscape 2K mods well. I get max 60 FPS, average 56 and min 47 FPS outdoors according to Fraps. So the GTX 1070 will shine in those games you mensioned.Besides, Oblivion, Skyrim etc. games are more CPU dependant than video card dito. maddogfargo
I had a 4GB Fury card and the High res texture packs made me upgrade to an 8GB+ card. Right now, MSI GTX 1660ti for $280-$290 US would be equal to or slightly better than a 1070. If you can find a Sapphire or PowerColor Vega 56 for $300-$330, that would also be a very good option. I would recommend against an RTX 20 series card right now. Not worth it. Edited March 22, 2019 by maddogfargo
xrayy
1070 was ok for me for max 2560x1440 res. 4k texture modded skyrim 8gb vram combined with 16gb ram is perfect.for 4k 1080 ti is minimum. i'm not a fan of this futureproof stuff. so i would not recommend 2060. a 1660ti seems a cheap option. Thandal
I'm totally in favour of "future proofing", and will be getting an RTX card next time I upgrade (probably a year from now.)
sopmac45
I had the Nvidia 1070 and I was able to play my games @ 2560x1440 ( 165Hz ) and I have no complain about the 1070. I gave that computer to my son and I built another one and this time with the Nvidia 1080Ti Z370, etc, etc .... by the time I built this one, the 2080 RTX was out and I did not want to just go for. IMHO, I am ok for the next 2 years at least to play any game. My video card is sufficient enough to handle 2560x1440 @ 165 Hz. I will wait for the next Nvidia graphic card generation and probably jump to a 4k monitor.
