Kel1978
I have a small question or two, If I have say a texture mod with no esp in loose files, If I archive it into a BSA for SSE would I need an esp to load it in vortex or Skyrim Special Edition? If so how would I make it? For example: Skyrim 2018 by Pfuscher, If I made a bsa would I need an esp to make it work. I know MO had an option to manage the archives but I don't know how skyrim or vortex handles it.
BigBizkit
Yes the game will only load a bsa if there is an active plugin with the exact same name in your load order e.g. Skyrim 2018 Pfuscher.esp (needs to be active)Skyrim 2018 Pfuscher.bsa You can create a plugin with the official CK, or (I reckon) with xEdit. Rattledagger
In SSE would expect using ESL instead of esp to load bsa would be the best solution.
HadToRegister
Yes, all BSAs need an accompanying ESP to point the game to the files inside the BSA.This isn't a Vortex question though.
Rattledagger
This isn't a Vortex question though.I would expect any questions along the lines of "mod manager X has feature ABC, does Vortex have this feature and if yes how to use it and if not what work-around can be done to get closest possible to feature ABC" to be a Vortex question. In this instance X = MO1 and ABC = "loading bsa without using plugin".

It is the game engine that only loads a given bsa if there is an active plugin of the same name.
Rattledagger
It is the game engine that only loads a given bsa if there is an active plugin of the same name. For one you can add more bsa to archives-section in one of the ini-files to load bsa without a dummy plugin. For another MO1 uses some kind of hack making it possible to load up to roughly 8000 bsa without using dummy plugins, and with users being (blissfully) ignorant MO1 is using a hack (meaning no user editing of ini-files). If not mistaken MO1 advices you to disable all dummy plugins you are using, since MO1 loads bsa without using dummy plugins. Finally bsa in MO1 follows "install" order and can override loose files. This isn't Mod Manager specific, any BSA will require an ESP in order to point the game to it's contents, no matter what Mod Manager is used.
