Pirates of the Caribbean

Anyone else played this? Bethesda made it, so when I had seen the immensely enjoyable film and I happened to spot the Bethesda label on it in a shop, I immediately picked it up. Sadly, it's a load of old pap.

 

Basically, Bethesda have shot themselves in the foot. They tried to make some quick cash by jumping on the 'Pirates' bandwagon and getting the license, they slapped it on the half completed Sea Dogs 2 and rushed it out. So there's a sub-par game that will disappoint gamers, and it has nothing to do with the film, which will disappoint fans of the movie.

 

If they had waited, resisted the temptation, taken their time over Sea Dogs, they could have released a brilliant game that would in all likelihood have made them more money in the long run anyway. Shame on you Bethesda.

I thought the game was fun, I just extremely disliked the crap ending. Bethesda should have put a little more time into it, instead of spending their remaining weeks to slap on POTC labels instead of Sea Dog ones.

A little tip - try the mods at this website, especially Nathan Kell's Build mod. It does improve it by a fair bit.

So THAT'S what happened to Sea Dogs II? I remember seeing an addy for it back when I bought Morrowind, then when I got Tribunal there was a new addy for Pirates. I was wondering why they would release two almost exact pirate games at one time...

 

IMO, any games based off of movies are bad. Really, really bad.

 

 

 

Redguard was the only good Bethesda pirate game. ;)

I'll save the slapping and give you the benefit of the doubt that you mean any games that have so far been released are bad. Not including the up and coming Starship Troopers game ;)
