Forbidden Error 201

i kept getting this error when downloading files on CDN server so i bought the premium upgrade to use premium servers but intermittently i keep getting that same error when downloading files. Its like i keep gettting de-authorized from downloading from your servers.

This happens mostly on larger files but sometimes even on smaller files of only 100mb.

Sorry to hear you're having issues. I have a few questions that should help us narrow down the problem.

 

Our CDN wouldn't ever send back a 201 code, did you mean a 401?

 

I can see your IP address changes quite frequently so could you please tell me if you're using a VPN or mobile (cellular) data connection?

 

Do you see the error immediately or after the download has been running for a while?

 

Was it happening repeatedly for any specific mods?

 

Are you using a mod manager and if so do you get the same error downloading manually?

Its 201 errors only. I do use a Cellular data connection mainly cause it is faster than my hardwire connection but i have switched between and still the the error happens sometimes immediately but mostly after downloading for random amounts of time. It happens on completely random mods nothing specific. I use Mod Organizer 2. Also i get slower speeds on the premium servers than the CDN lol i usually cap out on the CDN but i cant get over 900kbps on Premiums.

Can you confirm it happens with manual downloads too?

 

Code 201 is not an error (at least not in terms of HTTP codes: HTTP 201 is "Created" which is not something our CDN would ever send back to you as nothing gets created when you're downloading.).

To answer this, the "CDN" option for Premium Members picks the closest server that we have to you geographically. Thus, it should almost always be the fastest option for Premium Members.

Thank you for clarifying that Dark0ne. @Pickysaurus downloads have failed when downloading manually but produce a "Failed - Network Error" notice and it has happened on both internet connections. I will get a snip next time it happens so you can see the error MO2 is giving me.

it has also happened when downloading multiple files together not just one. Others will download just fine and one will just do the forbidden 201 thing.

Does this happen if you download manually from the site? Mod Organizer is not made or supported by us, so we cannot provide support for it. However, if the same issue occurs when you manually download or if you were to download through Vortex, we could help debug it.
