"Invalid group rules" Bell Icon Error Message... just go away please (Image inside)

Wow, that was harsh. I think my inquiry was misunderstood.

Let me ask it in a different way if I may:

Let's assume for a second I'm not even using Vortex at all. If I *hypothetically* just run standalone LOOT, it has an area at the top, above all the plugins/load order, where it list non-plugin specific "Warning" messages (such as the one I posted above).

My question is, does Vortex have this functionality? I realize it gives you plugin specific warnings (with the 'bell' icon directly on the plugin's line), but is there a place where it gives any 'General Warnings'?

I'm not trying to be a wise guy, I'm just genuinely wanting to know.

Thank you.

My apologies, you're a nice guy, and I came down on you too hard, I also completely misunderstood your question, and went off when you mentioned you were going to continue using External LOOT.

I've had a difficult week, one of my dogs died in my arms Monday, (he was 13 years old), and I just got him back from the cremation place yesterday, so I've been down, but I should've stayed off the site for a few days, rather than try to distract myself from RL.

So.....

The ultimate question is, do you really NEED 307 mods?

I've seen people saying they have up to 400+ mods installed with all of the hoops and patches, and merge files they have to make.

I think some people get more fun out of MODDING the game and seeing to what limits they can push it, just like people who like overclocking their systems

Now, since external loot tells you you're way over the limit, and you trust IT over Vortex's built in LOOT, then I suggest you make conscience effort to reduce the number of mods you're using.

I use 224 mods in skyrim, and for me, even some of those 224 are just 'fluff' and unnecessary, and I could remove a few of them, and another thing I've found, is out of the 224, I've found there's some that I've installed because I thought they would be fun, but I'm on yet another playthrough with a new character and haven't touched a good number of those 224, which is leading me to believe that I shouldn't add mods when I just want to add MOAR MODS!! and instead, reconsider whether I'm actually going to use them or not (Like going grocery shopping when you're really hungry, you're going to buy stuff you don't need, because it seemed like a good idea at the time)

So, honestly, I'd suggest going through your mod list and looking at each and every one, and asking "Do I really need this mod?" "Have I even used the features of this mod in my game yet?"

Because it sounds like you're spending more time messing with your load order, installing new mods, merging mods, making patches, converting mods from esp to esl, than you are playing the game.

Take this as helpful suggestions to maybe reduce your mod list, AND get you playing the game instead of tweaking mods.

Thank you HTR, apology accepted, though completely unnecessary. You and I always have a good rapport, I knew something had to be up. My heart goes out to you for the loss of your dog, I hope he/she wasn't in any pain and went peacefully. They really do become family. I'm so sorry...

"...NEED 307 mods?..." No. But I want 307+ mods. That's my hobby, my interest, my passion. At least where Bethesda games are concerned. Trying to become proficient with all these modding utilities (believe me, I'm NOT compared to many) and getting my mods to play nice with each other IS the fun challenge for me personally. And I've played the heck out of Skyrim. According to Steam, I've played Legacy Edition "1676 hours" and Special Edition "77 hours". And "yes", I am one of those nerds who overclocks the crap out of their PC (see my sig), who delids their CPU, who tries to squeeze every last GHz, MHz and millivolt out of the system they've built. 5.0 GHz stable on air... I'm pretty pleased with myself=) But again, that's just me, it's genuinely fun to me and I enjoy the challenge.

"...Now, since external loot tells you you're way over the limit, and you trust IT over Vortex's built in LOOT..." To be clear, I don't "trust" external LOOT more than "Vortex's built-in LOOT". I'm just merely observing that external LOOT is (seemingly) displaying a 'Warning Message' that internal LOOT is not displaying. And... this is totally hypothetical... but it makes me wonder if there are possibly other Warning messages external LOOT might display in certain instances that Vortex LOOT would not display.

"...Because it sounds like you're spending more time messing with your load order, installing new mods, merging mods, making patches, converting mods from esp to esl, than you are playing the game...." Absolutely true. For now. When I'm ready to get back into (playing) the game, I'll draw a line, lock everything in at its current version, refuse any further (mod/Bethesda) updates.... and do a playthrough. But not yet! I'm still having too much fun modding for the sake of modding.

Thanks again HTR for your post. Always appreciate your input.

So I think my inquiry about the LOOT Warning message thing has veered this thread off of it's original topic ("Groups" error message in Vortex... which... by the way... hasn't reappeared in over a week now). I *may* post my latest question in a new dedicated thread.

@ThelebKaarna

Your question whether Vortex warns about exceeding the plugin limit is a legitimate question, especially for someone with a very heavily modded game. I myself would like to know if such a warning is triggered somewhere in Vortex as a result of the LOOT alert. And if Vortex does not issue that warning, I would also be curious as to why not.

Personally, however, I do not need such a warning, because I always keep a close eye on my plugin count.

Appreciate your comment, I almost missed it (last post on a previous page).

In addition to the "exceeding the plugin limit" message, I wonder if there might be other different non-mod specific messages in LOOTS database that external LOOT might display that Vortex LOOT might not. And further... where abouts in Vortex would such a message even be displayed?
