Hello I installed Vortex, but I did not enable the "handle nexus manager download" button, so when i clicked it it didn't have an app to use the files of nexus mod manger and i chose the vortex.exe in the vortex directory, except now when i click download with vortex button on the site it reinstall vortex each time instead of downloading the mod. I can still manual download and drop the files in vortex.

I tried uninstalling vortex to have the message to use another app to change it but it reinstall vortex and I don't know what to do to change it, i don't know if now its now saved in my pc or if resetting my nexus account can change it. I don't remember the extension of the file when I first clicked on the download button I tried searching i in the default app by file extension manager on windows but I didn't find it.

If someone know how to fix this thank you for your help.

So when you clicked Download, WIndows claimed it didn't have an app, so you guided your browser to the Vortex.exe instead.

The only thing that was neccessary was the setting inside vortex

SETTINGS--->DOWNLOAD-------->"Handle Mod Manager Download"

There's no reason to set that in your browser or in Windows

I know I thought it would recognise vortex as the mod manager I didn't watch the video guides but now it stay like that and vortex reinstall each time I want to download a mod so I want to make it stop.

That's a windows problem because you associated the vortex.exe to execute very time you hit "Download"

You need to click on the notification area at the bottom right of your WINDOWS screen

Then pick ALL SETTINGS

Then in the search box, type FILE TYPES

Then pick the first choice "CHOOSE A DEFAULT APP FOR EACH TYPE OF FILE" (then wait a small eternity while windows searches all file types)

Then scroll down until you find ".nxm"

Check if the App is Vortex.exe, it shouldn't be that
