TheDovahsaur
Hello all! From the day SKSE was released, it has never been the cause of any problems for me. This changed right around of the start of this month(2/27/2019-3/2/2019). The only thing that has changed recently was a vortex update. Since that time, possibly since the update of vortex, loading in yields me with a notification: SKSE Not running, SkyUI won't work properly. After clicking ok the message goes away, but I am greeted by what seems to be an error from every mod I have. They all say that the version of SKSE is either 0.0.0 or that it is simply not running. I have tried reinstalling it numerously, from the SKSE website, and from Steam. To me the strange part is that suddenly it is not running... Should I try to reinstall the vortex? Or would it be advisable to manually delete and replace every SKSE file as opposed to the auto install?(I have only uninstalled it through steam so far) I also wonder if running LOOT might help? Thank you reading and possibly for lending help!
geffro
Replying to this because I have the same error. If anyone finds a fix, please let us know! EDIT (semi-fixed): It seems to be a problem whenever I launch skyrim directly through Vortex, running the game through steam works; In other words, if I download the mods through nexus mods and manage the mods through vortex, then run skyrim through vortex it doesn't work. But, if I download the mods through nexus mods and manage mods through vortex again, but I run skyrim through steam instead of vortex, it works. Not sure why, maybe a vortex update broke it. I should also clarify I'm using oldrim, not SE, but if it's a problem with Vortex it might be the same fix. Hope this helps someone! HeyYou
Think I would verify that SKSE was still in your skyrim folder, and launch from SKSE_loader, and not thru some mod manager.

Make sure you have the paths set correctly in the Dashboard, and make sure that you have SKSE set to PRIMARY in the dashboard. It will have a small banner on it if it's set to primary Obviously your paths will vary, but make sure both TARGET and START IN are filled in correctly.(I'm using Skyrim SE, but the settings will be similar) Also, set SKSE to PRIMARY

TheDovahsaur
I have not actually booted the game up too recently but I found that if you open the game folder and run the SKSE application(the one that boots up Skyrim when run) it works 100% of the time for SE
Bamdorf
I found that launching in MO2 using SKSE as the launch seemed to fix the problem. The UI worked better, it was sort of working, but some of the choices had ??? as the key to hit. Strange, didn't think launching SKSE would even start the game. fron67
Replace defective modsYou can find many versions of skse64 mods. Not all of them work perfectly, and these mods sometimes contain serious bugs which can prevent Skyrim from launching. So, it will be wise to check them by disable the mod or delete it. If you found the mod faulty then replace it with the latest version mod ( usually provided by the developer ) from a trusted source. How to disable problematic mods on Skyrim? Step 1: Go to Folder \Steam\SteamApps\common\Skyrim Special Edition\Mods > delete all files from this folderStep 2: Then go to Folder C:\Program Files (x86\Steam\SteamApps\common\Skyrim Special Edition\Data\Step 3: Remove all files related to modsStep 4: Do not delete these files ( Default skyrim data ) :Shadercache (folder)Video (folder)Dawnguard.esmDragonborn.esmHearthfires.esmSkyrim – Animations.bsaSkyrim – Interface.bsaSkyrim – Meshes0.bsaSkyrim – Meshes1.bsaSkyrim – Misc.bsaSkyrim – Patch.bsaSkyrim – Shaders.bsaSkyrim – Sounds.bsaSkyrim – Textures0.bsaSkyrim – Textures1.bsaSkyrim – Textures2.bsaSkyrim – Textures3.bsaSkyrim – Textures4.bsaSkyrim – Textures5bsaSkyrim – Textures6saSkyrim – Textures7bsaSkyrim – Textures8bsaSkyrim – Voices_en0.bsaSkyrim.esmUpdate.esm
