Rennn
I recently upgraded from a 1440x900 monitor with only a vga connection to a new 24" 1080p LED monitor with a 2ms response time and a 50,000,000:1 Smart contrast ratio. (See? Working 12 hour days temporarily has some benefits :P) The difference is unbelievable, it's like when I switched from a PS3 to a PC all over again. I can look into the distance and see people's hair textures! The pixel density is slightly higher than my old 19" monitor, so that's good too. I can sit just as close, and at 24" only 1.5 feet away it's nearly panoramic compared to my old one. Games from 2006 at 1080p look like games from 2010 at 900p, I'm so glad I decided to not upgrade my graphics card! It's like every game I own just got a massive visual upgrade, between the ~40,000 pixel increase and the switch from vga to hdmi. The performance hit is small as well. :D As a nice side effect, I can now play my PS3 at 1080p on my new monitor. Previously I didn't have anything to connect it to. (tv is overrated imo) If anyone's debating what their next upgrade should be, my vote's on a 1080p monitor (assuming the person in question doesn't already have one ofc). This made me realize just how much a bad monitor was crippling my games' graphics unnecessarily. Edited August 2, 2012 by Rennn

(tv is overrated imo) when i first got my PS3, my first game was MGS4, which is amazing game graphically. i was playing on an old tube TV. i needed to buy a new TV just to play that game because there were numbers and words and stuff in the game (like under his health bar for example) that i couldnt read. switching to an HD flat screen TV (which compared to todays TVs isnt that flat anymore lol) made a huge difference. but that wasnt even the biggest difference. sometime later, i switched over to HDMI and the change was outstanding. everything appears crisp and looks beautiful. even on bu HD TV, without HDMI, everything looks like crap (now knowing what HDMI looks like) ive gone back a couple of times for whatever reason, and its just horrible compared to HDMI. Illiad86
I remember when I used to play all my games at 1280x1024 on my 24" CRT, that was so awesome (coming from someone who had to play all her games at 1024x768 or lower) . Then I got my new graphics card and played at 1600x1200, oh wow :P Now play my games at 1920x1200 on a 24" LCD. You think 1080 looks good haha, this is woah  Sadly, this monitor still doesn't look as good at my old monster of a CRT. LCDs will never beat the colour and sharpness of CRTs. Iv000
Oh yeah, when I switched from 1024x768 to 1920x1080. It's like getting a new, better pair of glasses. Though sadly, mine doesn't have HDMI and has a few problems with distinguishing blacks at the top.
Sarissi
When I got the parts for this desktop PC, I got an LG 27 inch 1080p monitor. For now, it is connected via DVI, as I need to get a cable. All of my hdmi cables are in use. It is also Matte surface (not glossy). My Acer notebook has an 18.4 inch 1080p, which is unfortunately glossy.
