SoulofChrysamere
In Skyrim, there's several types of hostile "mancers" to be spoken of. You have necromancers that commune with the dead. Specialists in Destruction are broken down into three types by what element they prefer, thus making fire mages pyromancers, frost mages cryomancers, and storm mages electromancers. But...what of the other schools of magic? I got to thinking, what "mancer" would you call another type of enemy mage should you encounter one in a dungeon? Say you run across an expert Illusion mage. Well, Illusion magic deals with the manipulation of the mind, whether directly or indirectly. Even paralysis is simply the severing of the mind's (brain's) connection to the rest of the body for a short time. So in this respect, I guess you could call an illusion mage a "neuromancer" or a "psychomancer"? Or what about someone other than a mage, like an assassin or thief or anybody else that relies on the art of sneaking and stealth. Here, I think you could forgo any fancy etymology and just call a master sneak a "shadowmancer"? Anyways, just something fun to think about. Yes, I know the term "mancy" may not actually be applicable to some trades, but this kind of thing can make for some cool wordplay. :D
sajuukkhar9000
Pyromancer - Fire mageGeomancer - Earth mageHydromancer - Water/Ice ageAeromancer - Air mage, normally includes lightning magesNecromancer - Undead mageCronomancer - Time mage Also a good sneaker would not be a mancer, mancers are mages. To figure out what a mancer would be called you have to know the greek work of what it is they manipulate and slap mancer at the end. SoulofChrysamere
Yeah I know that mancers are mages as per my last paragraph in my original post. Would be interesting to see what you'd call others though if you could apply the term "mancer" to them.
