ohDoiMust
I'm level 47 assassin and I'm thinking if it will be worth it, now to start working my illusion skill or just get my alchemy up to make strong invisibility potions (which was what I've been planning to do) so what Is stronger ? and taking in account the situation what is better for my char ? Thanks In advance
thompsonar
You'll certainly be able to raise alchemy a lot faster than illusion. I don't think there's a difference between the potions and the spell, invisibility is just invisibility. You may actually be able to get longer durations out of potions but I've never really used them much so I don't know for sure. edit: You'll also be able to make the potions early in to raising alchemy and you have to wait to get the spell until illusion is high... can't remember exactly what level you need but it's something like 60-75 in illusion before you can buy the spell. Blackraptor31
Alchemy is the way to go. The ingridients for invisibility are fairly common, they don't cost magicka and you won't need perks to use them effectively. Casting spells makes a noise unless you have the right illusion perks. You can make a decent invis potion without any perks and it is completely silent.
xlcr
ohDoiMust, i don't play an assassin character except when doing the Dark Brotherhood quests; but, the times extended invisibility is needed in the game i tired of constantly using invisibility potions (thieve's guild prime elixir of escape) or casting noisy illusion spells. i've had this ring mod for a long time which adds Exousia4869's Chinese Stealth Ring (Chinese Stealth Suit from Fallout) and set the ring up as a hotkeyed favorite when toggling invisibility is necessary. When you crouch wearing this ring, you'll turn invisible. Psiberzerker
I just use Vampire Dust. It's pretty common, doesn't require any skill, and lasts long enough to break detection, or make that last distance to the target. I have a Nightblade that uses the spell in hand, but that's mostly to not be too OP. He can run out of Magicka quick that way (Not much invested in it, so it's not overabused.) The thing is, either you're Invisible, or you aren't. The only scaled factor is Duration, which if you're using it to Backstab, never lasts that long. Illusion has other useful effects, like Calm, and Fury, which help a lot when the plan goes wrong. Alchemy does too, but i just can't get that into it because of Inventory Control. I use it for Archers, since the bow takes both hands, but rules for delivering poisons (Like Frenzy poison.) For a dagger, I'd rather use a spell, because I have a hand free, and Magicka regenerates without having to go shop, and cook. Matth85
I vote for Alchemy as well. Just because the other effects you can get with alchemy beats illusion without a problem. You can: - Make poisons that destroy the enemy.- Make your own health potions, meaning you can start chugging them down like no tomorrow.- Make damage increasing potions.- Make smithing, or enchanting, increasing potions.- Make invisible potion- Use Giant Toe + Wheat + Creep Cluster, and you got yourself a potions worth 1.6k ( with 5 perks invested into alchemy only), so with more perks and an enchanted set, you can most likely get it to the double. Money!- It is not uncommon for me to go back from exploring, making potions/poisons, and having earned 40k Septims. Again, with only 5 perks invested into it. Illusion is usefull as well, but it stops being usefull at 40+. Heck, it doesn't even work at 40+. And if I only want invisibility, chugging a potions with a hotkey is easier than using a spell, then manually change back to the right dagger again. Blackraptor31
Just to add. Alchemy can do everything that illusion can and more. It also scales far better so your high lvl alchemy potions will beat the best illusion spells.
