Failed To Set Game Mode

Hello Everyone,

 

Vortex was working for me just fine until I had to reinstall my game and put updates. Now Vortex is giving me this message:

 

Failed to set game mode

 

It also mentioned that Vortex can not access the game do to it being write protected and that I will have to give Vortex access for it to work.

 

I am curious to know how to fix these issue and has anyone else dealt with this kind of issue?

Are you running Vortex as an Administrator? If so, don't.

 

Where did you install Vortex, and where did you put the Download and Mod Staging Folder?

I have it running normally. My download folder for Vortex is located in my app data folder under Users. I just did a reinstall and I left the default settings.

So, is your mod staging folder on the same drive as your game?

(That's the only folder that needs to be on the same drive)

I went to my downloads folder is the settings tab and all I see is USERDATA\downloads Do I need to change this?

Also I am having a additional issue where Vortex can not see my game in manage status. I am currently playing The Witcher Enhanced Edition.
