Silus Vesuius,you killed him?

i didn't kill him because his family aided the execution of the oblivion crisis, i killed him because Lord Dagon commanded it.

^This. This is why I killed him. I used to follow the Divines...but when the Thalmor outlawed the worship of Talos, I turned my back on the Imperial Cult and sought out the Daedra.

I killed him, though not because of his family's crimes, not because it was his own ancestor - if Silus is to be believed - who killed Emperor Uriel Septim VII, but rather because of him simply being Mehrunes Dagon's worshipper and something of a Mythic Dawn holdout, being so proud of his family's "accomplishments". If he had stopped at opening Mythic Dawn Museum - that's fine, I think people should indeed have a chance to know a thing or two about a cult that practically ended the old Empire; but being as he is, I'm sure that Silus and men like him would happily cause another Oblivion Crisis if given the chance. And because of that, he had to die.

Dead and looted. I usually play as ruthless characters that judge others by their worth as assets. He was useless.

On any play through I let him live. Main reason; I'm Dragonborn and no two bit chump "Deadra Lord" is going to tell me what to do, plus I loot the key from his dead lackeys that rush out to slay me and loot his shrine. Since Mehrunes Dagon is a foe to all mortals, screw him and his "commandments" to me.

If you let him live and later visit the museum he is very thankful. I guess my point is he realizes how wrong he was.

In maximizing my personal power, nothing stands in my way. Silus Vesuis is in my way of gaining something valuable. He dies.

 

In real life, I'm caring and considerate, and go out of my way to be a good person. In Skyrim, I'm an utter sociopath.

I let him live, because after playing Oblivion for 500 hours there's no way in hell I'm doing anything for Mehrunes Dagon. It was worth playing through the quest and then refusing his orders just to spite Dagon.

 

Also, Silus is pretty harmless. I think he was just really misguided and romanticized his family's history, but after he saw what Dagon was really like he didn't want any part of it.

To be fair, whether Silus was a nice or nasty character was immaterial, I needed Mehrune's Razor to gain the full collection of Daedric artefacts and gain the associated achievement. However, if the achievement was not an issue, I would still have killed him because he felt he needed to be open about his family's involvement in the Mythic Dawn, the Oblivion Crisis and the assassination of a just and kind Emperor! He was a fool and I felt no sympathy.

Silus was misguided, lost in his own awe of what his family had done.

 

So it was a complex choice:

 

Save a man's life and hope to save his soul, both of which he might lose later on in another venture like his attempt with the razor?

 

Or

 

Give up that man's chance, damn him for his efforts so far and take the prize, whether to use it as Dagon intended - or to keep it from everyone and make sure it does no harm.

 

So far - Silus has had very little chance of survival, but I leave the choice to the character. If they help people, they will try and save him. Otherwise he's very much a dead man walking. Especially with one of mine - they were there during the Oblivion invasion and doesn't want to risk it happening again.
