RGMage2
Thank you Bethesda for the things you've given me. In your Elder Scrolls and Fallout series you've given me many many hundreds of hours of enjoyment and I look forward to future releases. You've given me iconic moments that are burned into my memory, like in Oblivion when I first stepped out of the sewer into that lush green beautiful world you created for us. Or like in Skyrim in my first play through in Bleak Falls Barrow when I'm sneaking through the large cavern and the lighting is just wonderful and I'm thinking how beautiful everything is, and then all of of sudden I'm startled by the bats flying out of the bushes in front of me... and it's perfect, just perfect. I marveled at fallout 3, I thought it was a work of art. I played it and played it and even now I will play it again. Fallout 4? I bought an Xbox just to play it and it was worth every penny. I've completed the game several times, and each time I've come across things I hadn't seen before. The last play through I came across the burial scene where the wastelanders are gathered round and the preacher is speaking, and that was the first time I had seen that. After multiple play throughs I'm still seeing new things. I think that's great. And in your support of modding you've given me a hobby that will probably stay with me for the rest of my life, so I give you a special thank you for that. In this world there are so many people who love to hate, and one of the things they love to hate most is the accomplishments of others. Don't let them get you down, you guys make great games. Mudran
I can see now that maybe it is really Bethesda problem - the people who hate them are people with a certain gameplay and if Bethesda is constantly trying to show them that there is no place for their kind of games by lying - I can see why they became frustrated. I don't agree with any side - both of it are extremes, but more of players were affected by this war (I would say now even) - what if it was Bethesda who started this after Morrowind - following Microsoft trend of streamlining, taking console players as their shield and explanation for everything? thumbincubation
It's simpler than that, for me. They told me I could mod, so I modded. I found things that improved gameplay to my taste, and I used them. Now, they want to sell mods, but rather than just advertise mods for me to buy, they force updates on me, which knock things out of whack and create a hassle. "That's a nice save game you've got there...be a shame if something happened to it." Bethesda is by no means ignorant of the modding community, or of the effect their changes have on people, which leaves only intentional tactics. If you advertise something and I like it, I will buy it. If you attempt to extort me into buying it, by making sure everything else is a continual hassle, that changes my attitude considerably. easywolf
Updates, etc can crash your game and have you swearing at Bethesda, but that can be fixable. Best game and creator of the decade? Skyrim/Bethesda has got this. Thanks for a great game and thanks to all the modding community and Nexus for all their hard work making the game of the decade into the game of the century. WeissYohji
Bethesda has earned some heat despite making great games. Their games are so damn buggy and it's clear by their actions that they don't give a s*** about their own products. They didn't give a s*** when they tested Fallout: New Vegas and they damn well didn't give Obsidian enough time to put more stuff in the game. Oblivion was glitchy as hell. I've played Skyrim but haven't had any glitches so far, though. Now if Bethesda would cut ties with a certain bowler hat-wearing, cigar-chomping, scotch-drinking neckbeard due to his homophobic and misogynistic ways, that'd be great. I'm talking, of course, about Brandon M. Dennis d.b.a. Oxhorn. After having watched this exposé and others like it within the better part of the past week, I'm done with his channel. There's another, longer, more comprehensive video that I'd link to but unfortunately, it's a bit NSFW because there's some footage of 18+ mods that Oxhorn uses in his games. I unsubscribed from his channel upon learning all this about him. I find it appalling that such a good cinematographer can be such a dick. The incessant coverage of FO76 was already bad enough but this is even worse. He makes fake women's prisons and settlements in FO4; seems like he has some skeletons in his closet. He goes on about how porn is un-manly yet has no problem using nude mods in FO4; what a hypocrite! He filmed a teenage girl in public (itself already bad enough) and then fat-shamed her WHEN HE HIMSELF DOESN'T LOOK LIKE HE'S SAID NO TO A DONUT OR SEEN THE INSIDE OF A GYM IN TWENTY YEARS! He's slandered Obsidian by contradicting FNV's in-game lore and claiming they were somehow wrong about it. He abuses his influence by shutting down anyone who disagrees with him or even corrects him on in-game lore. And the puke icing on the s*** cake? Oxhorn has written posts online (which he's tried to bury) detailing his hatred of gay people WHEN HIS FAVORITE GAME WAS f***ing CREATED BY A GAY GUY! Hell, I'd consider FNV the most politically correct game in the Fallout series because the best way to do the most damage against human enemies is to play as a bisexual character. That's before factoring in the gay companions: Veronica, Christine, and Arcade. I have a step-niece who's a lesbian and if Oxhorn bashed her or anyone else I knew because of their orientation, he'd feel the outcome of a thousand battles. I doubt Tim Cain would want Bethesda to partner with a bigot to promote his baby. If I ran Bethesda or even created any of their IPs (past or present), I'd have severed ties with Oxhorn already by now. Like Follows-Chalk itching to explore civilization, I now want to transition and then go to a lesbian bar, pick up some cute girl, take her home, smoke a bowl, and make sexy times with her to piss Oxhorn off. Book an appointment at the endocrinologist, start popping some titty skittles, grow some boobs and wide hips, and then have a surgeon install a hoo-ha downstairs. Then it's scissor-me-timbers time. All to enrage a fat neckbeard on the opposite end of the U.S. because he promotes hate and discrimination. TL;DR: Bethesda makes good games but doesn't give a f*** about their product. Also, f*** Oxhorn. There's a limit to separating art from the artist, and he crossed it. Edited March 30, 2019 by WeissYohji
Mudran
I saw they announced new tech on PAX east and it did sound like the old Bethesda again, but it only make me more sad because of the contrast - the old good devs are still there, but it is all covered in corporate shell now :( Todd may be creating cool games, but obviously he doesn't mind microtransactions and twisting things to their favor - that is the worst for me :( Because of how they will never admit what they did with Fallout 4/76 and how they will continue to nurture their online / mobile games, pushing desperate people into it. Instead they just try to lure people to their launcher with free Morrowind, pretending they are cool with going to Steam, but you know it is just PR move after some months of silence - I feel so sick from this marketing behavior which I experienced in ESO and I guess I'm just allergic to it forever. The lies, the shills screaming on ordinary people what they should think, overusing beloved features just to lure people into what they want, jumping on every influencing person in modding community to corrupt them to be their PR mouth - I'm so sick of them. Also when I know now that if they wouldn't test online features like settlement building in Fallout 4, the game would be here sooner with more RPG elements and if they wouldn't jump on battle pvp wagon and stayed with settlement/or made pvp/settlement separated games, or made much more complicated effort to combine both properly in Fallout 76, they would be heroes... if they would care... Yes, thank you Bethesda - the old Bethesda studio, sadly this title belongs to marketing department already, so I don't thank to them...
RGMage2
Corporations don't make good games, people make good games. In fact corporations don't make anything, except for money. That's why they exist, to make money, and they do that by providing an efficient structure to work within that allows many people to work together and maximize their abilities in a way that they otherwise couldn't. In the world we live in today, if you want to build large things or to get your product to market, you need to work with faceless soulless corporations who only exist to make money. It's a deal with the devil, but it's a devil we should all know by now. We sell a little bit of our soul to an entity that has no soul, and in the end, if all goes well we end up with something that was worth the price.
