AerynRavanna
How much time it will take a guy to learn how to model like these? How much a good modeller make a 4000, 8000, 12000 faces mesh? And you cannot add any new animations without to replace. The monster mode doesnt add any new animation. Skyrim Editor sucks, was good if it had an editor like Starcarft 2. I started modelling in 3dsmax just over 3 years ago, and Zbrush 2 years ago, and been an artist since i could walk. You would need 3-5 years, practising every day, for at least 2 hours, to get near professional levels. If it is true that the engine will not allow new animations for new creatures, then the whales will be made static meshes as beached whales/hunted dead whales.Already had discussions with a modder on this.I will email monster mod maker. tgpomy
That sucks if the Whales can't be animated, would love to see them swimming around the ocean. But I guess a dead whale is better than no whales at all! I thought new animations were possible in Fallout's GECK, no? Why wouldn't that apply here? The monster mod's maker is probably your best bet.As for the whales, what about Horkers? I'm sure they have a swimming animation, though it would probably look a bit sketchy on a whale. dogtown1
my thinking is to rig them to the slaughterfish skeleton, then super scale them up in the ck this would give them a funky "hitbox" but I would make them COMPLETELY docile, they would only be for looks, cut their movement down to about one third of a normal slaughterfish, and add them to the deep sea areas as hand placed, not added to any list though you could create your own list and do different sizes and colors and also add the "unicorn fish" in as well  it would be a "Skyrim Ocean" mod you could throw in that shark from skymomod as well and scale him up a bit, then you got something that bites too
MikeDavis
I would pay for a better SKyrim Editor, as i said something like Starcraft 2 Editor ( but without Starcraft 2 map size limitation at 20 mb or something). People can make great models but not even a mediocre animation... for this game.
ghosu
Aye...these f*ckin' animations. A Bethesda employee could take the time to make a tutorial IF (!) it is possible to create decent animations with common tools. Of course they use different programs than the average modder but maybe it is doable - at least i would expect something better than the normal try&fail :D One afternoon work would help a lot of people - but maybe it is just no possible with our tools/plugins :(
MikeDavis
2 things could make Skyrim modding better: 1. A better SKyrim editor easy to use but complex where u dont need to know programming.2. Posibility to get paid real money for your work. Once in a blue moon, sure, modders could get some doe if the demand is great enough, but expecting relatively inexperienced artists/coders to get paid is perhaps a bit of an insult considering those of us who took out loans and went to uni and worked their arses off for 5 years and are still paid peanuts/nothing. /rant I've yet to see good editors that require no programming knowledge. Considering the fact that these mod tools are FREE, I think we've done pretty well.

tgpomy
Regardless of whether the animations work out or not, you could always follow dogtown1's thoughts above if things don't work. I'm so anxious to see developments in this.
