quawkle
I just got Skyrim SE tonight as it's on sale for the anniversary. I had the game on my Xbox One before so i wanted to get it on PC for better mods. I installed Vortex and then installed Imperious and Alternate Start mods (I installed and tested them individually). When my mods are enabled, the game will not launch. To clarify, I have the Skyrim installed on Steam. I run the game and it opens the launcher. However, when I click play, the window closes and Steam says it's running for about three seconds and then nothing happens. So after reinstalling Vortex and the mods, scouring the internet for hours, and crying in my pillow, I have absolutely no clue what I am supposed to do. So if anyone has some advice it would be most appreciated. Thank You
rmm200
You only have two mods, installed through Vortex.Make sure you have Installed and Enabled both mods, followed by Deploy.Launch the game through Vortex. If it fails to launch, Disable one of the mods and Deploy again. Launch the game.Take note of whether the game runs. Now enable that mod and disable the other. Deploy and launch.Note if the game runs.Report back with your results. quawkle
Thanks for responding. I wasn't launching the game through Vortex before so that may have been one of the problems. However, it still performs very strangely. I installed the mods again and enabled Imperious and deployed it. I tried to launch Skyrim but nothing happened. I disabled the mod and launched and Skyrim loaded up without a hitch. I then closed Skyrim and enabled and deployed the mod again and it worked! So the mod loaded and everything. However, once i closed Skyrim and tried to launch it again to make sure it was working, nothing happened (same as before). I tried this several times and it seems that I have to launch Skyrim with no mods, close it, and then enable the mod, and then it works. But as soon as I close the game it won't launch again until I have disabled the mod. I tried the same thing with Alternate Start and the exact same thing happened. It is also worth noting that I still can't run both mods together, Skyrim just won't launch. I am honestly super confused at this point. I hope you can understand what my issue is. Thanks! rmm200
Just a note:When you Deploy mods, Vortex sets hard links to those mods in your game directory, pointing at the actual mods in Vortex's Mods directory. After that, it really does not matter if Vortex is running or not.You can stop Vortex, and look at your game directory. You should your mods there as if you had installed them manually, even though what you are seeing are the hard links. This is very different than MO (has to be running) or NMM (mods actually copied to game directory). quawkle
Okay, but Skyrim still won't launch consistently with mods enabled
HadToRegister
Okay, but Skyrim still won't launch consistently with mods enabled Then there must be something wrong with your install of Skyrim or something, because Bethesda games are made to work with mods. Trying putting Imperious AFTER Alternate Start in your PLUGIN load order. Just assign Imperious to a group, try the "Late Loaders" group or "Dynamic Patches" group, either one should put Imperious at the bottom of the load order. I use Alternate Start and 224 other mods, and have never heard of this problem before. Where do you have Vortex installed?Where are your Vortex DOWNLOAD folder, and your Vortex Mod STaging Folder Located? Is the Mod Staging Folder on the same drive as your Game? quawkle
Vortex is installed in my programs folder The download folder is in App Data/Roaming/Vortex/downloads The staging folder is on the same drive in its own folder designated "Games" that I made Unfortunately the load order change didn't help at all Are all of the folder and files in the right places? quawkle
So is there anything else I should do or is my situation kind of hopeless?
HadToRegister
So is there anything else I should do or is my situation kind of hopeless? I think I may have figured it out. Tell me, did you install THIS version of Imperious #1 Imperious or THIS version of Imperious #2 Imperious So #1 or #2? Same Question with Alternate Start
