Dawnguard - Serana chick the new Lydia?

She is a nuisance though for constant comments if you accidentally get within a foot of her, though she is no where near as bad as Mjoll.....

Hey, that's my wife you're talking about!!!

How I rejoice when I hear the story of the bandit soiling his armour, and her constant reminders of how she loves the outdoors, travelling, and her father's expectations of her.

Her stories are a delight, why wouldn't you want to hear them 80,000,000 times?

Seriously though, agree with the OP. Don't have Dawnguard yet but already sick of seeing her name, in exactly the same way as Lydia. At one point I started to wonder if anyone else but me had even realised there were OTHER followers than Lydia.

Sorry... ....My Dovahkin would rather be packing Kitty Litter over constant dribble in his ear....80,000,000 times....

By the way, how are you enjoying Aerin?.... ....

I know, I just have an unbelievably large crush on Mjoll, so I have to put up with it.

I'm enjoying Aerin just fine since I converted his soul into an enchanted ring.

I don't normally don't moan and complain, but just this once I will... :P

Serana is definitely the most annoying NPC I have encountered in any of the Elder Scrolls games! Cicero, Adoring fan, Valen Dreth, Farwil, any of the helium-inhaling elves in Morrowind... there were annoying but short lived. None of them come close to matching Serana's annoyance quotient!

She uses mainly ice spells and seems to enjoy being in melee range. So therefore:

  •
  • If you're a melee fighter - expect to be pummelled by her ice shards.
  • If you're a ranged character - expect her to block half your shots.
  • If you're a stealthy character - expect her get into melee range of the monsters and then lure them back to where you're hiding.
  • If you want to loot bodies - you have to kill whatever she has revived.
  • If you happen to be playing a DLC that has a lot of cold-resistant vampires - expect her to use ice spells.
  • Worst of all, if you want to get rid of her - you can't! For most of the Dawnguard questline, she's an essential follower that ignores your commands to wait or part ways. The best you can do is Fus Ro Dah her off a cliff and enjoy 5 minutes of peace and quiet while she catches up.

:wallbash:

Serana also appears to be suffering from some memory/mental issues. Her comments on the weather in Skyrm are particularly amusing, as if she'd never been there before.

Personally, I generally loathe followers. I find they get in the way far more often than they help. Although...Marcurio from Riften did a surprisingly good job assisting a sword'n'shield melee character of mine...especially after I donated one my old sets of smithed-up-to-legendary steel armor to him.

I actually don't mind Serana's terrible aim, because at this point I have so high magic defense that getting hit with a few ice spikes actually doesn't hurt me at all.

Her necromancy is a bit unnerving, though. Several times, I've attacked falmer that I thought was sneaking up to her only to have to apologise for killing her zombie Falmer.

Also, after fighting a Reverend Dragon in Riverwood I went to Whiterun to sell the bones. Right after fast traveling I heard a voice behind me saying: "Free... at last..." and I turn around just in time to see Alvor disintegrate into a pile of ash. Then a messenger shows up and hands me a letter saying Alvor willed me a hundred septims.

I hear you on continually killing her zombified whatevers. She zombified a damn giant spider once and I had a minor freak out when it spidered its way towards me and I hacked it to bits, screaming, "DIE! DIE! DIE!" Then its corpse collapsed into a pile of ash. I could almost see the look Serana was giving me. I didn't care. Zombified giant spiders are a complete no-go.

NOOOoooo ... The worst is the Zombified Deadly, Killer, Viscious Bunny Rabbits !!!!! ...

Seriously? BGS couldn't have put some sort of script in there so that creatures have to be a certain type? Or at least NOT a f*****g Rabbit or Goat!

Also, why does she CONSTANTLY walk up and get in your face and push you around when talking to other NPC's? Is jealous or something? "Yes can I help you?" AAARRRGGGhhhhh ... FUS RO DAH !!!!!!

My Dovahkin had Serena with him when he attended Kodlaks funeral....as their all standing around saying their goodbyes to Kodlak, Serena thought that would be a perfect time to start smithing at the forge.... ....Yes, Serena's wandering's and bumping Dovahkin are problematic....she has held up or glitched quests for me through using an apparatus a quest giver needs to use or blocking the NPC's path....over talking an NPC delivering important quest info, etc....

Yup, I have had the zombie bunnies too....
