Key configuration and play style

A couple of days ago my friend came over to my house and tried out Dawnguard on one of my characters.( Dont worry. No Spoilers). And he got confused over my choice of control setting.

Instead of playing with deafult settings, I (among other) have switched place for the mouse buttons. Simply put, I aligned the left mouse button with left arm i game and right button with right arm.

We ended up having a small debate over this choice. My friend said it felt more natural that left maouse are the primary button like in many other games. But I according to me, both buttons are primary

because they are equally used.

So I thought to bring this debate/discussion on to the forums.

So how do you other players reason in this and what configuraton do you use?

(sry for bad english grammar)

My preference is the same as yours. I like the left side to be on the left and the right side on the right. I always re-map keys in any game that allows me so as to suit my preference and style of play. I also use some special add-on controllers as well. I find that keeping some things lined up in a left side right side 'real life' configuration contributes to a natural intuitiveness when gaming. Or at least it does for me. It all comes down to personal preference.

I have my keys and mouse buttons as well remapped - but that is troublesome sometimes, because some actions in the menus seem to be hard-coded and I have to use weird keys then, which are not displayed in the menu help.

For example I have the first/third person switch on the middle mouse button. But that forces me now to press the middle mouse button, when I want to change the item name in the enchanting menus. In other menus the same hassle Key-bindings are just not well implemented.

Left and right mouse button I left alone. I memorize it like that - left = primary action - right = secondary action - and assign spells to match this logic.

mouse/keys at default which feels natural to me (right-handed), 110 fov, assigned hotkey favorites:

1. magicka light saber 1h, dragonbane (1h), extended laser katana (2h).

2. angelic spellbreaker shield.

3. composite modern bow / spectral arrows.

4. staff of magnus.

5. grand healing / healing hands spell.

6. unassigned (dragonrend-kyne's peace-ice form-unrelenting force-whirlwind sprint shouts, fireball spell, ring of invisibility, light puma backpack, etc)

7. ring of orange light.

8. ring of life sensing.

ScrollLock. MemInfo/FPS.

I have my mouse swapped too :P and my power/shout key is "c", and I swapped space with e so it's like morrowind/oblivion. F is draw/sheath weapons, and r is swap camera mode. Shift is toggle sneak, and control is run (I use caps lock to toggle run, I never use the run button). I have f1 as skills, f2 as inventory, f3 as magick, and f4 as map. I think the rest is default. Lolz
