It depends on if you want to spend the time learning Vortex

Vortex is far more powerful, because if you get two mods where the textures and/or meshes overwrite one another, with NMM you had to hope you installed them in the correct order, because if you didn't, then you had to uninstall both of them, and install them in a different order.

With Vortex you can install them in any order, and when Vortex tells you there's a conflict between those two mods, you can tell Mod A to LOAD AFTER Mod B, if you find out in the game, that that was a mistake and you overwrote the wrong textures/meshes, you can just tell Vortex to have Mod A LOAD BEFORE Mod B, and Vortex automatically restores the files and overwrites the correct ones.

This comes with a small learning curve though

So, ultimately it depends whether you're going to take the time to learn Vortex, or if you don't want to bother and just use NMM

I swear by Vortex personally. My Vegas installation was the most stable I'd ever seen it since buying it years ago when I used it in conjunction with NVAC. Went about 18 hours with it only crashing about 2-3 times at most.

Still, be ready to read around here and the support section to learn more about how to handle it.

If it doesn't work out, GitHub still has NMM available, you can grab it there.

I love Fallout New Vegas - but new PC or not - it will still crash - a lot. It is still the old engine.

It will be smoother with higher frame rates.

I love Fallout 3 also - so I only play TTW. You get both games, and a better engine than Fallout 3 had.

I personally would have loved to have been able to move over to Vortex. Downloaded, installed, viewed all the helpful videos out there and read all the FAQ's, and it literally picked up zero of the mods that I had installed and regularly used on 6 of my games. Fallout 4 and Skyrim were my biggest disappointments, as I had spent the most time there adding and then pruning mods that added to the replayability, beauty, and richness of the gameplay.

Vortex simply seems to not recognize any of the many mods I have installed under NMM 0.65.2.

Either Vortex manages your game with no mods installed by NMM or NMM manages your game with no mods installed by Vortex.

Don't ever try mixing mod managers on the same game- that way lies darkness. Different managers on different games is fine.

vortex will only recognise mods it has installed. if you have mods installed under any other mod manager it won't deal with them - nor will any other mod manager.

if you have installed mods with nmm, then you need to uninstall them using nmm, then install them using vortex. you can't simply install vortex and expect it to manage mods it didn't install.

This bears emphasizing. If you got a good setup with NMM, stick to that and try another game on a fresh-install with Vortex.
