Do mods save information to ini files?

Vivid weathers config book has stopped working, change settings, exit and image doesn't change.
I recently used the ini configuration tool so wondered if that had caused the issue, also noticed ini.baked and base and wondered if they are causing the issue as the brightness and bloom settings are constantly changing on there own.

Also tried skse64 and skyui but had problems so disabled skyui and launch game with the default exe but not sure if skse64 changes any flies which breaks the game if you launch with the default exe afterwards?

Thanks.

No.

If an skse mod DOES write to an ini file, it will be their own ini file in the Data\Skse\plugins\ folder.

My guess is that you changed settings you shouldn't have changed with the ini setting tool (which by the way, allows you to change a lot of stuff you really shouldn't)
Personally I stay far away from those types of tools.

Well I carried on playing as it was and the brightness and contrast are constantly changing, I'll enter a cave with everything looking great , then come out and it's like the contrast has been set on 8 (vivid is set on 2) the snow is blinding with no detail in it, a trolls back is pure white with no detail, I equip a different weapon and the brightness and contrast instantly go back to normal (only went back to normal with weapon change once, another time quicksaving caused brightness to go back to normal) Other times everything becomes washed out like contrast is set on 0.

If I load an old save the vivid weathers book works fine and changes instantly when closing the book and the brightness doesn't bug out.

I've ran my latest save through resaver and removed unattached and undefined elements also non existent form instances but its still the same.

If saves don't change ini settings then it has to be something in the save file.

Anything else I can try to stop the brightness constantly going loopy in my latest save?

Thanks.

Well, without knowing ANY of the Mods you're using, I'll just have to guess that you're using a lighting mod that isn't compatible with your weather mod, or you're using several lighting mods together etc.

But why would an old save work fine? All mods would be loaded in the same order as the latest save wouldn't they?
If ini settings were stored in the save file then that would most probably be the cause of the issues but i'm pretty sure save files don't change ini files.

Only lighting mods I have are these in this order.
Lanterns of skyrim se v1.01

ELFX interiors only, with torch mod and smim patch, no enhancer.
LOS ELFX Preset Patch v6.0 to tone down the colour of LOS
Vivid Weathers Def edition v2.30 extended snow, classic shader, AOS patch, SOS patch, no seasons, no tree lod

Did have a remove interior fog mod and quality world map (which made the map blue which I fixed in ini) Removed both of these now though and changed ini back.

Ini changes (have tried setting back to default but didn't get vivid book working again)
[VRUI]
fActivateRolloverHMDScale=10.0000 Text size xbox controller
fActivateRolloverWandScale=10.0000 Text size oculus controller
bVrMapMenuEnableFog=0 Gets rid of blue tint on quality world map (now reset to 1)
bAllowVRCheating=1 stops knockback when too close to things

sIntroSequence=1 disables bethsda logo
fNearDistance=12 stops flickering in mountains but will also cause clipping viewing things too close

Tried disabling all lighting mods except vivid and reinstalling vivid but still the same, old save no problems latest save problems. :sad:
