JacquesStrappe88
"you say you changed nothing - but then you intimate that you may have downloaded the new version of vortex. so, surely, that is a change, no? (Well, you got me there.) later you intimate that you have downloaded and installed the latest version of skse64 - did you install it correctly? (Yes. )did you have an older version of skse64 previously, which is now updated? (No.) if you run skse64 from the game directory - does it start? (No.) if not, if you run the game exe itself, does it start? (No.)" If anyone (other than Snarky McSnarkle) has any idea as to why my SKSE64 has stoped working, or any ideas on steps (other than the basic rudiments) that I could try, please let me know. I am currently re-downloading Skrim SE to see if some how the file was corrupted. And yes, I had already validated my game files, and no, that did not solve the issue. rmm200
Don't bother downloading Skyrim SE again unless you delete the Skyrim SE directory first. My claim is still that you mixed a Skyrim LE mod in with your Skyrim SE mods.
Guest deleted34304850
you shouldn't need to redownload and reinstall skyrim SEi'd simply get steam to validate the local files and allow it to replace any that it thinks it needs. however if you have done that, then no issue you can move on from there.in terms of skse64, you had an older version that was working, but then it was updated and stopped working, so i would suggest that you look to make sure that any and all mods that depend on skse64 are also updated to the latest versions so that you will be in this state; 1. skyrim SE either completely re-installed or local files validated via steam2. skse64 updated to current version (already done)3. mods that depend on skse64 updated to current levels. 4. rmm200 has suggested that you have a skyrim LE mod in your skyrim SE environment. Can you validate/verify that all your mods are for skyrim SE, and you don't have any mods that are for skyrim LE. if you have redownloaded skyrim SE, can you see if the game will start with no mods? a new download of the game or a validation of the game files should at the very least get the game to start up. right now, you want to get to a place where you can get the game to start, and that doesn't seem to be possible for you at the moment for whatever reason. i'm still at a loss as to the origin of your issue. you said that you made no changes and i have no reason to doubt the veracity of this, but if no changes are made, except to download a new version of vortex, that should not cause your game to break in this manner, because vortex in and of itself won't make changes to your mod files unless you tell it to.# Once you downloaded the new version of vortex, did you do anything else after it installed and started up? is it possible for you to list your load order between spoiler tags as well, because obviously we don't know what mods you have in your game and having that information may give someone a bit of insight. one other thing to try - to me, at this point, it doesn't appear to be an issue with vortex - so you may want to open a thread in the skyrim forums detailing your issues there as well. you'll get a bit more localised knowledge in those forums, and you may also find solutions to your issue which is breaking your game right now. be sure to let us know what happens after you have tried those things and we'll see what we can do next to get you going. btw - i'm doing this simply because i'm interested in helping people with vortex. these support forums get people who's attitude leaves a lot to be desired sometimes. you're not the first, you won't be the last, so your tantrums and name calling don't do much except put you in a bad light. there are a few good people here, but if they see someone is behaving in an antagonistic way, the chances of help from them recedes substantially. so your appeals for help from other people may fall on deaf ears because of your attitude. have a think on that the next time you break your game and come looking for help. Zanderat
One thing is for certain. Vortex is not your issue. I just started my game, just to be sure. One thing I would try is to take SKSE out of the equation. Do a purge and then delete your Data folder. Then verify/repair through STEAM. At that point your game should be virgin pure. Disable any ENB, also. Reinstall SKSE, if needed. Launch the game using the SKSE launcher. If it successfully launches, then comes the tedious part. Figuring out which mod is causing your issue. Try re-enabling several mods at a time and restarting the game. If it launches successfully, rinse and repeat until you get the crash (or whatever happens). That way you will narrowed it down to a handful of possible suspects. One more thought: my game takes a looooong time (about a minute) to do anything visible after running the SKSE launcher. It looks like nothing is happening. Maybe this could be your problem?
JacquesStrappe88
First things first-- I had a bad insulin reaction yesterday, and I was not the most pleasant of people. I am truly sorry for my words yesterday-- that is not me. rmm200 and 1ae0bfb8, you weren't deserving of my bile, and I'm sorry I made you my target. I'm a bear when my blood sugar is low. Secondly, I tried to faithfully follow Juanton's modding guide, and it does add some LE mods. I assumed, however, that since they were in his guide and he didn't state that they needed any conversion (Amidianborn Book of Silence mods were one, and I don't believe they need any conversion, do they?) that they would be safe to install in an SE setup. As far as SKSE64 is concerned, I have the latest stable version (runtime 1.5.73) and as of Monday evening, everything was hunky-dory. All SKSE-dependent mods are up to date, as there have been no SKSE64 changes in a while. Still, the fact remains that, even this morning, SSE will not start, either through SKSE or the skyrim launcher, whether launched from inside Vortex or not. I am not getting a CTD, though... when I launch, SKSE brings up a sys command page for about half a second and then disappears, as usual. then, nothing. If I launch via the Skyrim Launcher, I just get nothing. Something is killing the launch before it even starts, and I have no clue as to what. i'm not a noob at modding, I have been modding Skyrim ever since Tytannis put the first mod up... but I am stymied. Now as far as disabling mods... NMM had a command that would disable all mods at once; does Vortex have a similar command? I have spent DAYS working on my mod order, and as I stated, until Yesterday morning, everything was great... I started the game after every section of added mods, moved around the map, tried to stress my computer, but everything was good. I guess I will try to disable mods from the last section now. I REALLY don't want to disable 400+ mods and re-enable one at a time... Is there a way to see in Vortex what mods were enabled last? If I could disable 5-10 from the end of my install order then hopefully I can find a problem mod fairly quickly.
Guest deleted34304850
in vortex you can sort your mods on installation time. you can use this to show you the last/latest mods that have been installed in your game. this will give you what you need. if you want to disable a number of mods, you can select several mods using ctrl-A, then at the bottom of your screen, a panel will appear, where you can enable/disable your selection. you can use this to enable disable some or all of your mods. give those a try and see what occurs. one other thing - as a temporary test - can you disable ALL your mods via the ctrl-A method, then deploy, then start the game from its executable - in theory this will start your game and as no mods are installed - it should be vanilla. if you can start the vanilla game - then good - that means your issue is mod-related. if you can get the game started that way - alt-f4 it so that the game is ended by windows - go back into vortex - ctrl-A on your mods again, ENABLE them, then deploy them - and you're back as you where. No mods are deleted by this process it's all hard links so you'll be back to how you were previously in a short time.

JacquesStrappe88
OK, before I really mess up, when I try to disable my entire modlist, I get an "External Changes" window. It says save or revert and talks about deleting links permanently if saved-- but tthat list is my entire mod list-- What now? I have a screen shot but I don't think I can post it here... JacquesStrappe88
OK, it's mod-related. By disabling all mods, the game works from both the launcher and the SKSE launcher. Lord, this is going to suck trying to find the crap mod. Edit: Okay, so I went to enable all mos, and was planning to disable them 1 at a time. All mods show enabled (according to the screen brought up by the wrench tool to the left of the window) but when I tab onto the plugins screen (with the plus sign) it only shows a handful of plugins enabled. This is so frustrating. Did I permanently delete my mods when i disabled all them? Edit 2-- OMG I just checked my data folder-- all my mods are gone. Damn this learning curve. is there ANY way to restore my mods?????
