Galaxyseraph
Bad at approaching introductions to issues, so I'll just get to the point. When I try to install armor mods via Vortex, which, in turn, I want to try to adjust with BodySlide, there is this issue, where vortex doesn't always install mods to the same location, which are either the skyrim game folder or the vortex folder, which means that textures or even entire armor sets aren't showing up for the BodySlide tool to adjust. Ironically, BodySlide is installed in both the vortex folder and skyrim game folder, even after un-/reinstalling vortex / skyrim(SE) / bodyslide (and removing the rest of the files after uninstalling them). Is there a way I can limit the installation of mods entirely to just one or the other folder, since to a beginner like me, this makes the usage of the mod not possible, since I've got 0 experience with manually moving around the files to the right locations, unless they're clearly labled with the folder they're belonging to.Thanks in advance for any assistance with this issue. HadToRegister
Did you start out by watching any of the tutorial videos or reading any of the getting started articles in the built in knowledge base?Because it sounds like you've got a complete mess there.Where do you have your Mod Staging folder set to, and where do you have your download folder set to?Vortex won't install mods to the Vortex folder unless you tell it to by setting everything up incorrectly.DO NOT, put any of your Vortex folders INSIDE the Game Directory. Galaxyseraph
Did you start out by watching any of the tutorial videos or reading any of the getting started articles in the built in knowledge base?Yes and yes, but they mostly provide info of things I already knew, considering that the interface is, mostly, quite intuative, navigating and installing mods previously wasn't really an issue. Where do you have your Mod Staging folder set to, and where do you have your download folder set to? Previously, I just let it have the default folders that are set up, which worked fine until I ran into issues with another mod, which in turn made me try to work it out, see if I can just cleanly reinstall a few things, which lead to more things breaking, upon which I tried to put it Into seperate folders in my documents\mygames folder, found on the same drive my skyrim is installed, so yes, i do have a hardlink which previously was also the case, considering I put roughly 80ish hours into my previous modded setup. Vortex won't install mods to the Vortex folder unless you tell it to by setting everything up incorrectly. If the vortex folder (the one I was reffering to) is the one found in %appdata%\roaming\vortex, then yes, it does put them there (by default). DO NOT, put any of your Vortex folders INSIDE the Game Directory. Didn't intend to :) Just seems like mods like BodySlide automatically are found inside my skyrim folder alongside the staging folder, be it the default one or the set up one, while the armor mod is not found within the staging folder, but instead the skyrim game folder, with BodySlide having an instalation in both. The "open File Manager" option in vortex sends me to the staging folder BodySlide, while the armor mod I'm testing (not the one I wanted to initially install before all this), is only found in the BodySlide version found within the skyrim game folder's installation of BodySlide. Galaxyseraph
Update:After multiple reinstallations of, well, basically everything, it seems like I've got an installation order that did allow me to get it done, guess this thread can be closed then.
