I had a strange anomaly with Vortex

I kept getting warnings from mods that use MCM Menu that it wasn't installed. I battled for hours trying to figure out why when it was obviously in my mod load order. What I figured out surprised me. Apparently the link I had setup in Vortex to launch F4SE was there, but it was not the default application, or something strange was happening. It was launching it partially because I didn't get the Steam Loader, but to get F4SE to actually work I had to go into C:\Steam\steamapps\common\Fallout 4 and launch it from there. Then all of a sudden everything works.

Perhaps it was launching Fallout 4 directly without going through the launcher. That's the only explanation I can think of. Maybe I didn't tell Vortex to use the launcher but to use the executable. Anyway if anyone finds the game launches but MCM won't work they might take a look and make sure it is actually launching F4SE from inside Vortex. I wanted to share the experience for others that may run into the same problem. There are quite a few people around the web saying they can't figure out why MCM won't show up in game. I feel pretty stupid, but still I thought it worth mentioning.

1) Make sure the path you set in the dashboard for F4SE actually points to the executable in the game directory.

2) Make sure you click the "Default" button on the F4SE edit shortcut page.

3) Make sure the F4SE scripts are in the game directory Data/Scripts; either as a Vortex mod or installed directly.

Sometimes when Skyrim or Fallout 4 - or Steam update, the first launch won't go to the game. It brings up the launcher instead.

Check the options, set the video resolution - and exit. Should launch fine after that.

Make sure your START IN and TARGET fields are filled in.

I don't know where your Fallout 4 is installed, but this is what my paths look like

TARGET - D:\Games\Steam\steamapps\common\Fallout 4\f4se_loader.exe

START IN - D:\Games\Steam\steamapps\common\Fallout 4

-Also- Set F4SE to PRIMARY so it will start if you run FO4 from Vortex (it will have a small banner on it if it's PRIMARY)

Yea I think I must've removed it as primary somehow because the path is right. The files were there, but just in case one was missing I reinstalled F4SE again. I don't put it in as a mod. I copy and paste it into the game directory. I never plan to remove it.
