PC Game pad recommendations

I have been debating with myself whether or not to get Dark Souls for the PC. With all the talk I've heard of it being a terrible PC port, I didn't know if I should spend the money or not. I've finally decided to buy it, but I'm lacking a game pad to play with. So does anyone know any good and not overly expensive controllers? I also have a PS3 controller, if anyone knows how to get it working on a PC.

You can use a free program like MotionJoy to use a PS3 controller with Dark Souls. Make your PS3 controller emulate a 360 controller, and you're set.

Also, make sure to get this mod:

http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=488240

It uncaps the resolution and backs up your saves automatically so that GFWL can't lose them, among other small fixes. All that's left to fix now is the sometimes temperamental optimization: 99% of the time the game is optimized quite well and is easy to run, but fur and certain particle effects stress weaker cards more than expected.

Thanks, I've used motionjoy before, but couldn't get it to work properly. I'll give it another try.

Nvm.

Edit:

If your PS3 controller won't work, corded 360 controllers are only about $25.

Btw, if you're trying to use a PS3 controller and your pc doesn't have bluetooth connectivity, just connect it with a usb cord and set MotionJoy to "local".

I've found the best way to go with controllers for PC is simply getting the 360 controller and being done with it. It has the least compatibility issues with games. I always used to use a PS controller, but it was always a mission getting it set up so one day I just got fed up and went and bought myself a wireless 360 controller.

They're a bit expensive, but the wired controllers are less expensive. I just chose the wireless because it's a bit more comfortable, and wired peripherals have a tendency not to last around me.

On another note, anyone know if I can get rechargeable batteries designed especially for the 360 controller? It eats batteries like nobodies business.

I have used the PS3 controller on PC. use MotionInJoy. You can use it to emulate the 360 controller with the PS3 controller. I played Skyrim with it, and had no problems with lag or whatnot. I have just bought a black X360 controller for my PC (the PS3 controller wasnt mine) and I plan on buying a Classic White PS3 controller to complement it, because while the PS3 controller IS nice to use on the computer, I thoroughly enjoy using BOTH controllers.

Anyways, the point is, just plug the PS3 controller in to your computer and install MotionInJoy (its free and itll be called "DS3 Tool" on your computer), then tell it to load the MotionInJoy drivers for the PS3 controller by clicking driver manager and selecting your controller (should be the only item, if not, unplug and replug so you can see it), then click load driver. Click profiles and select x-input. Then click enable, and thats it!

If you are going to buy one tho, get the 360 controller. It feels GREAT in your hands. The wired one is very light and has a pretty long cable with an in-line breakaway. The for-windows version and normal wired version are the same, btw. Just get the cheapest one. Got new one for 40 something on Amazon.

A wired 360 controller is the best option, it's widely supported and the drivers are included in Windows.

Actually, only some computers have it preinstalled. Mine, for instance, had to download them when I plugged it in. Bought the laptop a few monthes ago with win7 on it. Linux is the only system (other than Xbox) that has it built in. I plugged it in while running Ubuntu and it INSTANTLY flashed green then had the 1 quadrant lit up. It even has the old Xbox controller drivers built in.

I wonder if that was an updated driver?
