I'm sticking with my Ranger for the time being as she is fun, but am having a helluva time getting on with her storyline, because when she enters the instance and tries to save Black Haven from the bandit invasion, inevitably she gets overwhelmed by the numbers of them as there is of course no-one else in there. But she has a lot of fun with group events with her bow, nipping in and evading, sniping away.

If I made another character would they automatically be in the Guild, or would I have to just make them and let Jager know so that he can invite?

i got mine to 22. the GreatSword is what i see every single mesmer using, almost without exception. however on mine it has a Staff with a Scepter/Pistol. the Scepter keeps the supply of Clones up, while the Pistol applies numerous conditions to enemies as well as a good DPS Phantom. and the Staff has good AoE. i did use the GS sometimes, but i stuck with the other setup most of the time, for the time i was playing mesmer

I use the Staff and Scepter/Focus, the Focus for the speed boost, the last thing you want in WvW is to be left behind the group and then run into the enemy alone.

@Ginny yes they are but you have to click the "represent thing again". Talking of guilds I'm still waiting for an invite to the one here. :(

FOTM is a big problem in all MMOS. IT's a sad fact of humanity that some people lack imagination and creativity-a lot of people simply copy what they see others doing, and the more people copy, the more copies are visible and the more potential copiers think "oohh, that must be a good build" Sadly it usually is, but in the Chinese-Whispers copying process, any power it may have had gets lost. The thief is the FOTM over on Eredon terrace, and this is a very, very bad thing. Not because it's a bad class, but because the vast majority of players playing it do it so badly, it's completely useless. Ranged thieves are an omnipresent thing, there's over 100 of them in my guild, but regrettably even out of that 100, about 80 or so are useful only as bait.

The problem is that these lazy people who buy into FOTM rarely put any effort into their characters-because they can solo most mobs, they tend to think they're powerful. But they aren't, and you would not believe how many thieves I've had to kick from dungeon teams because they aren't contributing anything. The worst problem is that the build they're all using is pitifully bad, dual pistols, specced with every point they have into Power. Sadly this has almost no useful DPS as it's all focused on one target, and lacks proper DPS even then. With no thought to survivability, most die in a single hit, and when their illusions of capability are rudely shattered by a rampaging boss, many then become angry, and take it out on their other companions. I honestly can't stress enough just how often I see people doing this build and behavior, it's a major problem.

i do see a lot of thieves running around. i too am a Thief, but ever since Dragon Age, ive fallen in love with Thieves. however, mine is not specced like you mention. i honestly have no idea what im doing lol, just going with what im having fun with. the good thing, is since you can get all Skill Poin Abilities, and Respec your Traits, it doesnt matter how bad i do, as i can do it over later. but ATM, im using Duel Daggers almost entirely, i have Duel Pistols as backup for when fighting with lots of allies, so i can get shots in before they kill the enemy, or when fighting a strong boss, because i do die in 1 hit to a strong boss.. not only do i enjoy them most, but the mobility they give, and the Conditions they give are very fun. i Switch up my SP Abilities often and my only Elite is the Summon more Thieves ability lol. and so far i have 10 points into Deadly Arts (Power/Condition Duration) and 10 into Trickery (Condition Damage/Steal Recharge Rate) im waiting till level 40 to get my next Trait Book to put 10 more points into one of them....im starting to get better at moving and dodging now, so i might try to focus into the Steal/Dodging Abilities. im not looking to be good, so much as i am looking to have fun. refining my character will come when i know what im doing :P

I can do that I think. I'm actually thinking of getting on right now so I'll try if I do. :P

Looks like you are already invited.

Hoof-it's probably mean of me, but I just boot characters like that. A guy who does almost no DPS and gets one-shotted prevents you bringing someone who won't and can heal and do DPS. I current have a no-thieves policy in my guild, simply to keep them at bay.

I'm not sure about thieves, they do seem very easy to kill. I know if I see a Thief in a large scale battle I make a point of singling him/her out, maybe there's a trick to them that some haven't figured out?

@Hoof if you're having fun that's all that really matters, it took a while to get the hang of my Mesmer but I was still having a blast. :-D

Okay I've seen two or three green chests tucked away in kind of hidden places, and the first was in Gendarran Fields, west of the Provernic Crypt, near the vista. I can't find out what the hell they are. They don't open or have any interaction. Has anyone else noticed these or know what they are?

that is actually extremely mean of you :P

what do you expect? a Thief to just pour every point into Vitality?

but then again, i dont really plan on doing any WvW or PvP. and if youre not alone and people are just gunna be over obsessed about their dungeon groups, then i just wont be doing dungeons.

I've had to move back to a European server, I didn't have any lag but the time difference meant I was playing in a ghost town a lot of the time, the Sea of Sorrows is especially bad because of the large number of players from Australia/NZ.

I've not seen anything like that in WvW, in fact people go out of their way to revive others, even at he risk of getting killed themselves. Ive seen similar in PvE, people will fight their way through enemies to rescue a complete stranger, I've never seen anyone complaining about someone being too weak, in fact I've seen very little unpleasantness full stop. You do get XP for reviving people but I think it's more than that, they've done a great job of bringing players together.

@K00L I've not noticed them, do you have any screenshots? the only chests I've seen are homes.
