Newly installed Vortex issues

I recently got the itch to play some Skyrim legacy after seeing a spotlight on Wintersun. I log into nexus to find I need to install Vortex, so I followed the instructions on how to import without issues from NMM, and uninstalled the NMM files. However, when I tried to boot up Vortex, I got a notice saying my masterlist file isn't available, and to delete to reinstall. I go to the Vortex folder, and there's nothing in the masterlist folder. I'm on Windows 8.1, with 382 GB of remaining memory and 6GB RAM.

On another, perhaps unrelated note, when I try to click download on the website, it tells me there's no .nxm file for downloading, and asks if I want to go to the store to get one. I've tried the setting menu in Vortex, with switching on and off the handle mod manager download, as mentioned in a previous thread, and after easily 10+ times, still no results.

Any help would be appreciated, as I would like to get back into Skyrim. I miss that game, but it's not quite the same without Enai's mods.

Hi,

Sorry to hear you are having issues. I'll have to ask the devs about the masterlist.yaml.

Did you finish the import process without issues i.e. did you get a "Success" message? If so, did you take a look at your mod list and plugin list in Vortex and/or try to launch the game and did it work just fine? Did the masterlist issue only occur thereafter (on relaunching Vortex that is)?

As for the nxm links being unassociated: which browser are you using? If you are on the latest version of Vortex (which you can always find here: https://www.nexusmods.com/site/mods/1?tab=files) Vortex should associate itself with nxm links as soon as you start it up (it will display a corresponding notification upon doing so). It might be down to your browser, permission settings, or browser plugins.

edit: the masterlist is fetched by the LOOT API meaning between that and your nxm links being unassociated it might be hinting at your internet security settings interfering.

After fiddling around with my security settings on my computer, I noticed windows defender would pop up saying it prevented malware on my computer every time the "failed to load masterlist" notice would pop up in Vortex. I'm thinking it has something to do with windows defender stopping the file from coming through. I'm no tech/network guru though so I can't say what would be occuring

Well, there's been a common problem reported in the forums, that you need to turn off the RansomWare setting for vortex in Windows Defender.

See that green box on the post saying ANSWERED?

That means that the OP's problem has been answered and to NOT add your own problem to the thread and instead start your own.
