GratuitousLurking
Ok, so I am quite unaware what is going on here. I've decided to give Vortex a spin now it's hit 1.0, use it as an excuse to reinstall Skyrim and check for new compatibility patches and all that. However, even with Vortex set to receive Nexus Mod Manager files, my system logged in to Vortex and Nexus with my nexus account, Firefox set to use Vortex to handle the file types, and all that, I can't get Vortex to react in Firefox when I click the Download for Manager links in the browser. I have used Mod Orginizer in the past, but as I used it for multiple games I didn't save it to handle links or anything, selecting which install of MO manually up to this point, so I doubt that's an issue either. HadToRegister
You've set this?
GratuitousLurking
You've set this? Literally first thing I did, and closed/reopened Firefox and Vortex afterwards. Thus my utter and abject confusion at all this.
HadToRegister
You have this set in Firefox under Options----->Applications ?
GratuitousLurking
You have this set in Firefox under Options----->Applications ? Sat it through the manual select I had been using for Mod Organizer up to this point. I sat it as the default user as a part of trying to get this to work prior to posting, as I had explained already.
GratuitousLurking
Did another random test to see if I could get it to work today, trying to trigger the install with Vortex closed at the start, through Firefox. It opened up Vortex, so it's clear it's going to Vortex properly. The problem, is there is no sign of the download actually starting it's downloading at all in Vortex once it's open. No installed mods, nothing in Downloads, nada and zip like before, just with confirmation the linking to nexus is definitely in Vortex from this browser. EDIT: Second test of the day, doing it through Chrome, and it turns out to be quite functional and installed SkyUI via Chrome. While that's a good step forward, reinstalling my entire load order through what is not my default browser (aka opening up Nexus links in Mod Organizer, copying the links from Firefox to Chrome, then installing via Vortex) will probably be tedious and this still feels like a weird issue worth exploring somehow. You can also download Manually, into the appropriate Vortex Download\GAME\ folder and Vortex will automatically detect it there. But that's weird that Vortex won't start the download. Are you logged into Vortex? Check the EXTENSION tab, are ALL of the extensions Enabled?

I am quite aware of manual installing as a concept, that's the second time someone's asked about logins after I said it in the first post already (plus I'm sure if I wasn't doing the installs via Chrome would have complained about it as it seems to be reading the things right), and I don't even see an Extensions tab in Vortex so not sure what you're talking about there. If you're missing the extensions tab, then your Vortex install is bad and should be reinstalled. I'm not talking about Manual Installing, I'm talking about pressing the MANUAL DOWNLOAD button and downloading the mod to your Skyrim download folder, and Vortex will automatically detect the mods, and then you can install the mods with Vortex. Considering all the other strangeness I've been running into with getting some executables like FNIS to behave, I'm slowly realizing that reinstall (and, like... maybe dumping every mod load system to boot to ensure no crossed wires) is probably for the best at any way, no matter what mod loader I wind up using later.
