EveBishop
What it says on the tin. I want to install, in this case, Realistic lighting overhaul, but I haven't got to immersive citizens to install it yet. (its in the list.) Realistic Lighting's fomod wont let me tick the IC patch because I don't have it (yet). Obviously this isn't an actual progress-blocking problem in anyway, its just a feature of vortex (at least i assume its vortex) that stops you from installing patches for stuff you dont have, but it's....unwanted? I guess is the word?

Obviously this isn't an actual progress-blocking problem in anyway, its just a feature of vortex (at least i assume its vortex) that stops you from installing patches for stuff you dont have, but it's....unwanted? I guess is the word? I know that people love to blame Vortex for everything from Load Order to Acne to tooth decay...but this is not a "Feature" of Vortex. That is an INTENTIONAL feature of the FOMOD and the Mod Author, you'll find the most if not all FOMODs will not let you install a patch for a mod that doesn't exist..The mod author, like other mod authors make their installers so that the FOMOD will NOT install a patch for a mod that doesn't exist in your Data Directory.WHY would a mod author allow you to install a patch for a Mod you don't have installed, whether you're planning on installing it in the future or not? Mod authors restrict the installation of patches for this exact reason, if you were able to install the patch, then forgot to install the mod the patch was for, then you'd be in here saying that Vortex is crashing your game, or you'd be at the Mod webpage saying their mod is crashing your game, all the while forgetting that you installed a patch for a mod and never installed the mod. Mod Authors got sick of getting blamed for things like that, so they added fail-safes to their installers that made sure people couldn't go ahead and install "EVERYTHING" to prevent people from installing the wrong things and blaming the mod author for it. Just install the mod, then install the patch, it's what you're supposed to do.
