Moksha8088
Steam wants to Install Fallout 4 From the Steam Library, instead of the button to play Fallout 4, the buttons says install. Upon clicking it, the message is to install it to my D drive. I have had it installed to my C drive for the last three years along with my mods in the data folder. When I point Steam to the common Steam folder on the C drive it tells me I need an empty folder to install. While it would free up space on my C drive, my D drive would not hold all of these new games and I would not want to reinstall all my mods. What can be done about this broken Steam detection problem? I am about to start a new FO4 game and that is the time I like to do the latest Bethesda patches as well as the mods that need to be updated because of the latest patch. Not just Fallout 4 is affected, but also Oblivion, Skyrim, and Skyrim SE. Fallout 3, Fallout New Vegas, and Enderal are not affected by this install rather than play bug. Are the Bethesda upgrades only available from Steam?

Moksha8088
Tried shutting down and restarting steam. I noticed all the steam local files are grayed out for the affected games as well.
Moksha8088
This Steam glitch is most annoying. I don't want to reinstall my games to another drive when then are working well from the drive Steam first installed them.

Almost 2 months since your post and counting. Wish I had an answer for you and I both! I AM working on it as we speak. Meanwhile if YOU have found a fix, please, by all means contact me with this info! Thanx! Edited September 11, 2019 by DaughertyUSMC

Joj157
You can go down and select "ADD A GAME" and select "Add non-steam game" and select the Fallout 4 executable. Then you would at least have the the shortcut through steam. Edited September 14, 2019 by Joj157
