luminare101
First time posting so please excuse the ignorance. I had my game installed on an external HDD and recently installed an internal HDD . the drive letter went from D to G. I've reinstalled vortex and skyrimSE, but when I fired up vortex it stated "The operating system has reported an error without details when accessing "D:\Games\Farm Manager 2018\Steam\config\config.vdf" This is usually due the use's environment and not a bug in Vortex. Please diagnose your environment and then retry" I have tried everything I can think of I do own farm manager but never modded or enter it in vortex. I only mod skyrimSE. I've reinstalled Vortex on the same drive (G) redirected mod and download pathways to folders set on (G) deleted appdata/roaming/vortex file. I have deleted everything i can find regarding vortex even registry entries. I don't know why it still want drive (D) Any help would be greatly appreciated, Thanks in advance! HadToRegister
There was no need to reinstall Vortex and SKyrim Se, because the only reason Skyrim and Vortex are having a problem is because your drive went from D to G, so everything in the registry is point to paths with D:\ in them instead of G:\ in themVortex found and detected Farm Manager back when it was on drive D.The EASIEST thing to do, if you don't have ANY other drives set as drive D: and haven't installed a ton of stuff to drive G:\ is to change your Drive G letter to Drive D:Only do this if you haven't done what I mentioned in the sentence above.Windows Key + X then select WINDOWS MANAGEMENTFind Drive G, then MAKE SURE THERE ISN'T A DRIVE D, then right click on Drive G, and select "Change Drive Letter and Paths"Then select "D" from the dropdown.Again, only do this if you have no Drive D on your system, and you haven't installed a ton of stuff on Drive G. luminare101
Thank you for your response! Unfortunately drive G does have a lot on it. Honestly I thought about doing that. There are programs and about a terabyte of data on it. I thought uninstalling vortex at the least would have corrected this. I don't understand where the memory is coming from. I deleted everything, for all intent it should have amnesia or be reborn like new. Where is this pathway coming from? Wheres the hold over? Any idea how to reset the pathway to G? Again thank you for your time and I appreciate your help!

luminare101
I used revo uninstaller pro and traced out the program. I deleted everything. I'm not a programmer but not new either. Thank you for the warning. I don't know where vortex is getting this pathway from. How can I completely and totally wipe the slate? Does vortex keep files off site, say through my profile link? I'm at a loss. Any and all help is completely appreciated! Thank you

luminare101
I tried that too. I changed mod pathway to "G:\Games\Vortex mods" and download pathway to "G:\Games\Vortex downloads". unfortunately it didn't solve it. I was going to post a screen shot of the error, but not sure how to upload a screen shot. Thanks again for your assistance!

HadToRegister
That particular error message, is caused by Vortex trying to find everything you had on drive D:\ that's now on drive G:\ #1 specifically states what the problem is.As rmm200 suggested, you're either going to have to edit all the registry entries. OR, what would've been much much easier, would've been to swap your drive letter back to D:\ BEFORE you installed a ton of other stuff on it.As it is now, it sounds like your drive is half D:\ and half G:\the G:\ half being everything you installed AFTER the drive letter changed I see that "Diagnose" is still spelled "DIagonse" in the error message
