Help me: it's been over than 20 hours than I try to figure out why I got CTD in Fallout 4

Hello,
As the title say, I'm looking for help to fix my CTD issues in Fallout 4.

 

 

 

CTD :
It alway occuring with this scheme: I'm playing around 5 - 10 minutes and suddently I got black/screen or a 2-3 seconds freeze and I got CTD.
Happens everywhere and totally random.


My specs:
AMD R7 2700X (chipset divers up to date)
ZOTAC RTX 2080Ti (drivers up to date)
16 GB RAM G.Skill 3200 CAS14

SSD 970 EVO 500GO

All others drivers are up to date
Nothing is overclocked
PC have been formated just weeks ago
Every others games run perfectly fine

Windows 10 X64 version 1903.


Fallout :
Last version on Steam
F4SE : 1.10.138
I use NMM for mods and LOOT to set load order (both are up to date). I tried Vortex but I feel like there are still bugs on it.
But LOOT don't set load order well tho. That's why I tried Vortex.


Plugins in F4SE:
- achievements
- CPB (body physic)
- F4ee (lookmenu)
- HHS (high heel system)
- place it everywhere
- PrivateProfileRedirector
- xSE PluginPreloader

 

 

ENB:

I use : https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/6796?tab=files with default settings. PRC Camera Preset - L00s Choice

 

 

Things I did so far :
- A clean and fresh install of Fallout 4
- Verify files in Steam
- Removed a lot of mods
- Reseted the all .ini files of Fallout 4 located in "My Games"
- Load an old savegame and clean it with FallrimTools (arround 230 orphans scripts removed). And it worked fine for a while.
- Did a plenthy of new savegames

After I did this 2 :
- Disabled GPU overclock.
- Set a limit of framerate at 61 FPS with ENB.

The game seems worked well for a while and I haven't got any CTDs.. but now I feel they cames back.

As I said I already removed mods but thoses I showed are "precious" for me. Mean, My Fallout 4 interest will decrease if I don't play with them. And 70% of them are just armors one. But I'm ready to remove anything.
Mods are also up-to-date.



Might be CTD cause:
- The heat ? It's hot here but according to differents monitoring tools, temps are good. I even opened the case.
- FallrimTools to clean savegames ? I did some backup but they were pretty old and I got no problems so far.

- Something wrong with a mod or a few, but I don't know which one.

 

 

Any suggestions ?

Have you tried playing without the High Resolution Texture DLC and the 4K texture mods?

two mods I hear people claim cause CTDS are Looksmenu Customization Compendium and Longer Power Lines 3x

I deleted High Resolution Texture DLC. No really difference after all and 56GO taken on SSD. But I haven't tried to disable 4K texture mods, I will try.

Also I'll remove Longer Power Lines 3x and Looksmenu Customization Compendium for try. Actually I don't need it.

 

 

By the way, do I need to post a Papyrus log or it's useless ?

Papyrus logs don't show the cause of Crashes IIRC

Fallout 4 seems to run better now. I removed High Heel System for NPCs (it caused CTD to some places after a fast travel).

Also deleted all "lookmenu" mods and Longer Power Lines 3x. Futhermore I downloaded 2K textures instead of 4K.

 

 

But yet not stable at 100%: I played for around 1 hour, traveled a lot everywhere and workshop in order to test stability. Fallout 4 worked good but after 60 minutes, I got a CTD when I used Homemaker to put a fence.

 

Maybe a kind of memory leak ?

Since you list having an RTX 2080 and don't see it mentioned, I'll ask: Have you turned off Weapons Debris in your graphics settings?

 

The RTX series cards have a serious issue with FO4's weapon debris setting causing the game to CTD consistently. Turing off weapons debris is the only solution.

 

EDIT: you may also want to look through the Homemaker comments section. The latest version apparently has an issue causing CTD when accessing fences in the build menu.

Yep Weapons Debris setting is OFF, I just turned ON years ago to see what it lkooks like but OFF since then.

 

For CTD with Homemaker: as I said, I get a CTD but right after I relaunch the game and went back in fences tab and no CTD. (But I didn't go "deep" in fences categories).

So maybe I went to BOS fences, (that cause CTD according to Nexus Homemaker forum) the last time and crashed.

Well, it was worth a shot since I didn't see the weapons debris mentioned. Hope you can get it sorted.

I had similar issues with FO4, but for me it locked up instead of crashing.

For me it seems to be XMP. After I've disabled that, the game never froze again (yet).

 

Fallout 4 is quite memory intensive so smallest instabilities can freeze (or crash) the game.
