DragonKnightBob
I have 915 hours in Oblivion with one character on my fully modded setup. Currently for staying power, definitely got to give it to Oblivion, though when Skyrim gets more mods for it I'll have to swing.
hyralux
Yea oblivion for sure. Dawnguard is a great Dlc that is easily worth four or five adventures. Oblivion is worth hundreds ^_^Skyrim is a wonderfully great game, but Oblivion just holds a special place in my heart that Skyrim won't ever compete against. DagothDan
is this game good i am new to the elder scrolls games should i buy it or dawn guard for skyrim? I'd say buy Oblivion (as it is an entire game in itself as opposed to just an expansion pack), honestly its not a very good Bethesda game, but still a great game overall. Game game of the year edition if you can so you get the full experience. For the low price it is now I'd say yes its entirely worth it.

Guss
Oblivion for me I say has to be the best of them. I have put in est. 450hours still play it today just get a few mods that add this or that misc, and i keep going. sometimes starting new to get the best use from them. The oblivion gates do get annoying but skyrim to me is oblivion that has better grahpics and bit updated combat system. I also have all the DLC for Oblivion but have yet to fully complete them, just the regular world and mods keep me staying there. :turned: " No matter what they do originals games do seem the best. As time goes by they come up with new things and etc to make game play better but for me thats ehh. " Have to say the same with the Halo series, great game but as it went on just got ehh same stuff just better graphics back to the original  "
formalrevya
is this game good i am new to the elder scrolls games should i buy it or dawn guard for skyrim? Yes and no at the same time. It all really depends on why you want to buy it. If it's because you really enjoyed Skyrim and want to get a lot more of it. Stay away from oblivion. If you're looking for a game in a similiar style to Skyrim, that only has to share a few common gameplay elements with Skyrim, then you'd enjoy oblivion. There is such a large difference between the mechanics that you could easily believe they aren't the same series. Honestly, I played Oblivion for 3 years solid. It was the only game I played. It was unlike anything I had ever played before. But I can't honestly imagine going back to playing it now that Skyrim is out and the modders are releasing it new content for it almost around the clock. TheMastersSon
I give both Skyrim and Oblivion players the same advice about previous releases. If storyline and immersion take precedence over graphics quality in your book, go for it imo. Each game has its own set of charms and you won't know which one brings you back for more until you try all of them.
