ryanfss
I've searched but cannot find a solution to my problem. When I update my mod, Vortex will give me the external changes dialogue and I select the option to keep the changes which is fine as long as the Creation Kit is still open. If I close the Creation Kit, Vortex essentially scrubs any and all updates I've made and says it failed to parse the plugin. As a result, this will be the third time I'm starting over on an update. Do I have to create a new archive every time I make an update?? Am I missing some tutorials out there for mod authors? BigBizkit
It sounds like the plugin might be locked while loaded in the CK which prevents Vortex from applying changes. Does that sound probable? I'm having a hard time trying to reproduce the issue, I'm afraid. When you say "update" you do mean manually changing values for a plugin in the CK and saving them, right? Can you give me a very detailed step by step? For example I need to know, if both apps are running, what you are doing after saving the plugin in the CK, what are you doing to prompt Vortex to show the external changes dialogue etc.
HadToRegister
You can't have an ESP open in another Program such as Xedit, or the CK and expect Vortex to be able to write the new ESP to the Data folderI edit my ESPs all the time in Xedit while in Vortex, after I make the edits, I make sure to SAVE the ESP first. When I go to install another mod, is when I will get the notification that the ESP I edited has changed, so then I pick "USE NEWEST FILE"
rmm200
A point worth mentioning is that unlike Mod Organizer, Vortex does not need to be running while you use the CK or other tools. You may be more comfortable stopping Vortex, run the CK to make your changes, then fire Vortex back up.
