CTD after upgrading Vortex

Yesterday when I turned on Vortex I had a message at the top to install an upgrade. Please understand I am a computer newbie. I know enough to really get things screwed up. I clicked on the Install link and Vortex upgraded. I also downloaded the next version of SKSE from silverlock and installed it. Skse 1-07-03 is the version. I also installed a few new mods and among other things i got a weird purple color to the Perks Background in game. Forgive the long description please. I made an archive of the Data Folder from the Skse archive, installed it, and the purple color was gone. However I am experiencing CTD's now. I removed the mods I installed and thought the CTD's were done, but they returned.

 

My CPU is a Intel® Core i7-4790K CPU@4,ooGHz 4.00 GHz

I have 16mb of RAM

64Bit Windows 10 OS

And an SLI COnfigured Nvidia GeForce GTX 950 2GB Ram video card setup.

 

If anyone can offer some advice I would deeply appreciate it. I would like to play through Skyrim once just to say I did it. I got to a level 25 or 30 once but the dang game kept crashing so I gave up. Thank you in advance.

Did you update SKSE because you updated Vortex, or because you had to update SKSE to use mods?

[ Installation ]

1. Copy the .dll and .exe files to your Skyrim SE directory. This is usually in your Program Files folder under Steam\SteamApps\common\Skyrim Special Edition\. If you see files named SkyrimSE and SkyrimSELauncher, this is the correct folder. Do not copy these files to the Data folder as with a normal mod. The "src" folder is only useful for programmers, most users can ignore it.

2. Copy the .pex files in Data\Scripts\ into the Data\Scripts\ folder of your installation. The .pex files are needed by all users of SKSE.

Well, to be honest I updated SKSE because I had to since there was a vortex update. I made an archive of the data folder in SKSE download and then installed it via Vortex. I have no idea what a .pex file is though, so Ihope I did not royally screw my game up

You don't have to update SKSE just because there's a Vortex update.

 

The only time you have to update SKSE is if THE GAME updates.
