Wrong files in Mod

Hello,

Well, I'm pretty much guilty of doing everything wrong when it came to my first Vortex install, usage and then (because of my own bloody stupidity) uninstall. I downloaded a few mods initially and it was awesome! I got carried away and put a ton of them on without understanding basically anything. I ended up having to uninstall Vortex and Steam. Anyway, long story short I muddled my way through some of the problems that followed with re-installing everything, but one problem I definitely don't understand is why all the folders on my E:\ drive are appearing in the mod section of Vortex. Hell, maybe it's not a problem at They were there after the re-install and I can't remove them.

Any help would be much appreciated. I will leave a screenshot.

You really only have to tell Vortex two things.

1) Where do you want your downloads to go (can be on any disk)

2) Where do you want the mod staging directory to go. (Has to be on the same disk as the game - but not in it)

Give us a screenshot of those pages in Vortex. They are under Settings.

Sorry about the wait. I can't seem to find the pages in settings you are referring to. It seems like everything on my E:\ drive is being mistaken for a mod file. Is this a problem or can I just leave it the way it is and continue downloading more files everything else seems to be working perfectly. Well, as far as I can tell which doesn't mean a lot. Thx for the help there eh!

no it's not ok.

your setting are targeting E:\ as a whole where it should be targeting the appropriate folders instead.

Go back into Vortex and think clearly, take your time and set things so that they point to the correct spots.

Hun, you made a small mistake anyone will do. you can simply fix it. No need to uninstall anything if the mods are loading, just fix the spot that's targeting E:\ and save. close and reopen Vortex and those folders should be gone except your mod folder and downloads thingy.

I am getting the same thing - but different. Mine is showing all the files and dirs in the Fallout 4 dir. Changing where the mods are staged obviously does nothing to change this, because that is just staging...not the mods folder. Changing the directory to where Vortex downloads is not going to work because that is simply where it stores downloads. Any suggestions aside from the above a) change dl directory and b) change staging folder dir.

Frustrating because I was trying to do a clean install and the danged thing was just working...

Where is your Download and Mod Staging Folder located?

It sounds like you set your Mod Staging folder to Steam\steamapps\common\fallout 4\

The Mod Staging folder IS the Mods Folder.

That's where the Downloaded mods get extracted, put into folders, and then the hardlinks are created.
