jsetliff
WOW! Not sure wtf happened...went to go change the staging directory and BOOM! It deleted the whole Fallout 4 directory! Silly thing...not that big of a deal since I just reinstalled it. But WOW! Time to waste more time reinstalling...not the fastest process. When it warns you Not to run it as administrator...it means it! Which I did NOT set under properties, so wasn't sure how or why it did that at all. rmm200
If it were me - I would open a Bug Report and let staff look at it.Vortex should not be deleting files unless it installed them, and it should not delete directories unless they are empty. Well from your initial post, it sounded like you had your game folder set as the mod staging folder, you never actually answered my question, but from your first post, it sure sounds like that was the case. idranktomuchh
Solved my problem. Thank you very much for the help. Thx for the visuals. Very helpful. Your last point was pure gold. Just had to wrap my head around that and fixed it. Thanks again there eh! :)
jsetliff
I believe my issue was a silly one, meant to post it last time...was so freaked out by the deleting (don't forget it was running under administrator privilege - so I don't blame Vortex) I forgot to mention it. I believe I forgot to "apply" the staging dir change. At ~45 yrs old and dealing with DOS AND a software engineer...I felt pretty stupid. I'll update this after I try again. Oh did I mention the 4,5,6 yr olds I have? Life gets busy at my ripe age ;) Who here can even remember a tape player? Much less a rotary phone? jsetliff
ohh got me there ;) "45's and 33's are all there is right?" I really thought that was it! I had to google that "weird one" ... at least I played with 8 tracks lol. Felt like an idiot when I didn't "apply" the changes...
