BunnyAng97
Here's a mod that I think would spice up the Dark Brotherhood to make it stand out from "just a guild". In tradition, the Listener is the highest rank any Dark Brotherhood assassin can hope to achieve, who would then fill in the Speaker to dispatch the contract to an assassin. However, in the game, it seems that you will play all three roles. What I was hoping for, whether Oldrim or SE, is for a mod that allows you to act as the Listener, basically doing what Astrid did before you came along. Recruiting potential assassins (custom followers would fit here nicely), listening to Night Mother's words and handing the jobs out to everyone who lives in the sanctuary (including Babette) and then keeping the gold earned while giving them a cut of the profit. That would be the most basic function of the mod. If possible, more features could be added later down the road to make the mod totally unique. For example, a personal Dark Brotherhood courier or messenger only for your discreet dealings. They would not report any crime you committed and would only pass the message when there isn't anyone around. And then, a display of all your assassins personal stats, records, perks, and such. It could even display an assigned assassin's chance to fail (which can be negated if you come along). Of course if you personally train an assassin, follow him on every contract and let him successfully do his job everytime, he would improve his skills and at some point, become a very competent member who can succeed any contract easily. This means that even Alvor can become a legendary assassin if you train him well. Something like an RPG within and RPG. And then, if your assassins get caught, they will be executed if you don't save them within the time limit, either by paying their bounty, breaking them out old school style, or "supplying" them with tools to escape if they're competent enough. Characters like Nazir and Cicero, or any initiate who has achieved legendary status, can always escape on their own however. And then, maybe more unique contracts just for you like the assassination of a dremora where you have to find a way to enter the plane of oblivion to kill it for example. Or another where both Vignar Gray-mane and Olfrid Battle-born hired you to kill the other. And last but not least, options to expand beyond your sanctuary. You could capture any bandit hideout, forts or ruins and turn them into outposts. Each comes with their own weaknesses and strengths. Forts for example, could offer better protection and escape exits, but also has a higher chance to attract unwanted attention. You can even assign who to keep watch of the area. An extension to the previous paragraph's unwanted attention, you'll face attacks from numerous factions like the vengeful Penitus Oculatus agents, rival assassin groups like the Morag Tong, and then harassments from Dawnguard, Vigils of Stendarr or Silver Hand if you have a supernatural member with a high bounty, and even the Stormcloaks or Legionnaires if you happen to mess with their forts. If anyone has some interesting additional ideas feel free to throw them in here. If more people take interest the chance for a mod to take off would increase. SnowFox35
The Dark Brotherhood being targeted by other assassin groups really caught my eye as an idea. Just imagine one of your personal scouts returning from a patrol to find nothing, then moments later a mass of blades are torn through the wind and a group of assassins appear from underneath cloaks of Invisibility spells. Talk about being paranoid.

Talk about being paranoid.Glad you liked it!And maybe to trigger their initial attacks you need to do something to anger them. Like stealing a kill from their contracts. Like what you did with Grelod. Two different people putting a contract on the same person and now we have assassins clashing in the dark :DAnd since the Morag Tong is from Morrowind, the chances of getting attacked by them increases measurably in Solstheim. mcguireptr
I am feeling the same way right now; the "Dark Brotherhood Forever" questline makes no sense at this point in the game. You are the listener, you should not be doing these quests unless you wanted. to. The fact you have no option to assign the quest to one of the other members (and then return in one week to get the reward or something) just makes no sense. Why is the listener doing all the contracts by themselves? What are the other members even doing? I wanted so bad to find a mod that fixes this but I can't seem to find anything and am not comfortable enough with scripting to take it on myself. raven46382
They pulled this non-sense in fallout 4 where you had to do everything even if you side with the minutemen and build your own army which logically you should be able to delegate tasks to but nope. The thieves guild even has like 5 trainer NPC so why not the dark brotherhood having people that go on jobs. When you upgrade the sanctuary after the main quest is over you get two underlings that do nothing and don't even have names they are generic NPC. The checking in weekly thing is cool but also being able to check up on your people and give them tips or train them yourself would be cool.
