What I miss

With Skyrim's alchemy system, a pair of dark brotherhood gloves, a well smithed bow, a daedric arrow, and all the damage increasing perks, it would be totally possible to one-hit Mehrunes Dagon. No matter how powerful you were in Oblivion, the only way you could kill him involved a glitch with the wabbajack. :/

I think that about covers the balance issues between those two.

And I miss armor degradation too. It would give us more to do with leveling smithing other than making obscene profits off of it.

This is Skyrim, snowy mountains and big canyons. not much to expect, wonderful places and locations. We the modders can make it into what we want. As games move on in the series they do lack this and that, but who knows why they didn't put it in or add this and that. Original games will be best because they came up with the ideas 1st there and as it goes on, everything tries to get put all in one. Also peoples taste, we liked those things in the other game but who knows that they might come back in a later game or be more advanced.

I miss the longer Guild quests in Oblivion and the Fame/Infamy.....Skyrim feels like it doesn't matter what you do....but really truly DO NOT miss that damnable persuasion/intimidate game, was relieved to find it gone in Skyrim...I also don't like the forced quests and hand holding in Skyrim.....but the graphics in Skyrim are much nicer.... Edited by StayFrosty05

There was a morrowind patch that came out about 2 months ago. Check it out, and i think you'll find that while the graphics are definitely dated, they're still quite impressive with the patch. Mind you, morrowind takes a lot more space iwth the patch. Lol.

I just want to say, on the "you can still get lost in Skyrim" point... I have no sense of direction at all, I play with iHud so I have no compass, an I very often get turned around and start walking the wrong way, but I have never actually been lost. I got lost in Morrowind, wandering around in the swamps or the grasslands, but in Skyrim I can only get turned around. :<

Aside from that, am I the only one who wonders why Bethesda thought the public would want to play in a world full of tundra and snow? They have amazing new graphics and they waste it on rocks and stupid scrubgrass and snow.

Well, they also came up with the 'Tiber Septim used his Thu'um to make Cyrodill into what it is today' thing to excuse the fact that everyone said it was mostly jungle up until Oblivion. I like Cyrodill a whole lot, but it does kindof suck that they made that design choice, and the Ayleid Ruins would have looked more awesome in a jungle. Can't imagine Skingrad in a jungle though. *shrug* I heard they were trying to make it seem less alien, compared to Morrowind, even though it seems most people love Morrowind because it seems alien. I guess Skyrim was another step towards that. If the next TES is Summerset Isles, and they stick to the lore, that's going to be more boring than anyone could claim Cyrodill was. Meadows and pastures.

This...so much.

I hate how bloody shiny the snow looks, even with complete vanilla settings (afair) on a sunny day or with the candlelight spell. I wasn't that fond of the ash storms, either, but they weren't all there was to morrowind. Skyrim it's like...oh, more snow. Pretty!

I'm with you there (actually, I'm on board with everything that has been stated in this thread, especially Nakatika's excellent contribution). Worst part is, if these rumours about a Solstheim DLC are to be believed, we'll be travelling even further north in the not-too-distant future. I was really hoping for a nice big city, like we got in Tribunal. Still, it'll be nice to have a DLC that takes us to a new worldspace.

Back to the topic at hand. If I had to sum up what I miss about Morrowind/Oblivion in one sentence, it would be: I miss playing an Elder Scrolls game that isn't a half-baked console port. :wallbash:

To clarify, I mean that the port was half-baked, not the game itself. Though I do have many issues with the game, as well... most of which have already been stated.

Does anyone who played Morrowind remember the Daedic Glider?

Not sure if it came with a mod I had or was in vanilla, but it was in a Daedric Shrine N.W of Ald Ruhn, it was cool, float and speed.

not as fast as the boots, but a lot faster than you could run.

just cruise around hoovering above the land speeding past everything. Go up a mountain and down the other side, hoover above the water and avoid the nasty slaughter fish and the larger things that I cant remember their name.

It was fun to play with
