Crashy crashy after loading saves after update!

Funny lol. I started Fallout 4 two days ago after not being on for 2ish months. I was surprised there wasn't an update. But of course, there was an update recently.. which broke my game. Game crashes within 0-3minutes after loading a save (tried multiple saves). I got the latest f4se and updated my showlooksmenu mod and other mods dependent on f4se. I didn't install any new mods after the update.

Not sure how to fix this.. I am not sure if bethesda is going to release an update any time soon to fix this or i gotta wait till someone make an unofficial fix for this. Either way it kinda sucks since I am in the middle of making a video.

I read that people are rolling back their game and what not, but I also read its not a good idea and might f*#@ up the game even more in the future X_X.

Heya vatiwah. Oh wow, what a nasty welcome back surprise! That really sucks. Yeah, that update happened just yesterday, and it's bad news. Latest update breaks the game. The normal steam rollback doesn't fix it. This time, there's three files that have to be reinstalled, in order for the game to work. All three roll the game back to version 1.10.138, so once you do it, you'll have to reinstall your f4se back to the previous version.

There's several really active threads in this section of the boards, regarding the rollback. Just open any of them that say rollback, ctd, update, and you should be able to find the links for either the reddit conversation, or direct links to the files. Tho, in case you don't see it, you have to rename the files to match what's in your data folder already, or it will still crash.

Is the update breaking the game for a lot of people? Doesn't seem there are lots of people posting about it on the web. A few posts here and there and on reddit.

I've mainly only been watching the forums here, as far as Fallout goes.

I know that there's been some people posting about here, but that isn't counting the people that have found the fix on their own research, and haven't posted anything about it.

Well, at this point I don't think that Bethesda gives a flying F**k if their updates break the game. They're cashing in with CC-crap. There's hardly anything else to their updates than flooding you with that bloatware.

 

If you manage to restore you game to a playable condition, make sure to backup your exe as well as the launcher, the FO4.esm and the Interface.ba2. These files are needed to roll back to the previous version if updates go south.
