Just Returned To Nexus Mods After A Couple Years

So considering how all of this is evolving these last years, it honestly comes to no surprise that Nexus wants a piece of this as well, and I'm certain that if the next Elder Scroll games comes up and Bethesda will push for mods to be behind paywalls (which they tried once already) then Nexus will have no choice but to follow suit or else they will either be in breach with Bethesda for releasing free mods, or Nexus will lose a big chunk of its player-base to sites like Steam that already have mods behind paywalls.

I have no faith in gaming companies anymore, each and every one of them eventually becomes corrupt and just wants to milk their customers instead of giving them a full and good experience like they used to, and I'm starting to loose faith in mod websites as well since its all going in the same direction, I guess greed trickles down and infects everything it touches.

If Bethesda chooses to allow mod authors to charge for their work it will be a great thing for mod authors who will finally have a chance for an honest respectable income without being held hostage by donations.

Aside from Nexusmods, I haven't seen any other modding website nagging users. In fact ModDB (which is much older than Nexusmods) still allows free downloads of any size to unregistered users.

Paying authors for mods is a nice idea, so long as you don't look too deeply into IP (intellectual property) and piracy issues. Anytime money is involved, graft will follow.

This content is not Nexus's at all, its other peoples content. They just Host it, nothing more. They're acting extremely shady and kinda gross honestly. Forcing people to pay for reasonable access to mods. You know that if you add block even 1 add the entire site no longer works? Shady as hell.

This is complete Disinformation.

The site works if you block ads, however the download speed gets capped at 1mb/s rather than 2mb/s if you access it unblocked

What's "shady" and "gross" is complaining about ads and spreading disinformation, when just a paltry $2 will get rid of the ads for life.

Do you have any idea how much it costs to run a website such as this one? Especially with as many members that are here?
