Vortex: "Missing Staging File"

I keep receiving this message I have tried multiple attempts to get the Staging Folder to be properly set up; however, all prove to be futile. I have followed the guides and such to no avail. My Vortex is on my C drive, while Skyrim SE is in my E drive. I stet up my staging folder as such (E:\Game\Vortex\{GAME}\mods). In my E drive the path appears as such (E:\Game\Vortex\skyrimse\mods). I always receive the "Missing Staging File" message. I read that you can alleviate the issue by putting a blank Text Doc into the staging folder, so I did and received the message "Invalid Destination: The destination folder has to be empty."

 

I am NOT running Vortex ad an admin.

There appears to be no problems with the E drive itself.

 

 

What can I do to solve this issue?

Should I uninstall Vortex and attempt to download it into my E drive?

Should I try "Move Deployment"?

How can I find out if an external application is removing the folder? The folders are still there so I dont believe this is the problem.

I have an SSD is that an issue? That wouldn't make sense from my understanding, but I'm still learning.

Your MOd Staging folder should be E;\Games|Vortex\Mods\Skyrimse.


Just make a MOD folder, Vortex should add the game subfolder by itself.

 

All I did, was make D:\Games\Mods folder, Vortex added the Skyrim SE automatically.

I tried it that way (E:\Game\Vortex\Mods\{GAME}) it still says "Missing Staging Folder." And now I'm getting messages stating "Failed to move Directories." Do you know why this is?

 

Edit: Under the Game Tab in Nexus my Search Paths are C:\ and E:\

Okay I did that and it now says that the folder destination needs to be empty by the skyrimse folder that Vortex put there is in there. Is this what is supposed to happen?

Yes, when you move the Mod Staging folder it needs to be empty.

 

What do you mean the Downloads folder isn't working?

Are mods downloading to it?

So as you said before I made a file in my E drive called Game, then in that Vortex, inside the Vortex file are Mods and Downloads. I then went to the Vortex Program and set the path (E:\Game\Vortex\Mods). Vortex then made the skyrimse file in Mods. Then perhaps Vortex is complaining that the Download Folder is in the same Folder you're trying to put the Mod Staging folder in
