Nekoyoubi
Where can I find the file or registry key that tells Vortex where to download to? I ask because every time I load Vortex, I get the following error message... (should be "C:\Games\Vortex\skyrimse\downloads") Hitting browse and selecting the appropriate folder makes it work for that session, but it repeats the process on a new launch. Also, I've tried to go and manually set it through the settings UI, but it won't save changes unless I change the location (which I'm not sure if I should do, or if that would freak my installation out). I figure if someone can point me to a location that I can edit (file or registry key) to fix whatever is causing the folder to get screwy, then my problem should be solved. Or should I just re-target the downloads somewhere else? Thanks much in advance.
HadToRegister
Look closer, your problem is \\C:\Games\Vortex\\Downloads\skyrimse\skyrimseAlso, it looks like when you set up the download folder, you set it up like this Downloads\skyrimse so when you started managing Skyrim, Vortex added ANOTHER skyrimse, to end up with Downloads\skyrimse\skyrimse
Nekoyoubi
Look closer, your problem is \\ C:\Games\Vortex\\Downloads\skyrimse\skyrimse Also, it looks like when you set up the download folder, you set it up like this Downloads\skyrimse so when you started managing Skyrim, Vortex added ANOTHER skyrimse, to end up with Downloads\skyrimse\skyrimse Thanks, but I'm aware of the "\\". My first write-up of the issue included removing the "\\" from the file or registry setting, but then once I noticed the drastic difference in what it thinks is the folder on launch ("C:\Games\Vortex\\downloads\skyrimse\skyrimse") to what it is after I select it each time ("C:\Games\Vortex\skyrimse\downloads"), I got the feeling the issue was a bit more than just the "\\". Also, I didn't set up the downloads folder. It was set to whatever it wanted the default to be when I installed it ages ago. One of the various updates that's happened recently through it into a fit. HadToRegister
Did you try the REINITIALIZE option?BEfore you do, copy your mods from the Downloads folder to another folder (so you'll have a backup in case REINITIALIZE causes their deletion, and see if that fixes things) Also, if youi use Windows Defender, be sure to turn off "Controlled Folder Access"If all that failsTry searching for Blacktree gaming or Black Tree Gaming in the Registry editor
Nekoyoubi
No, I didn't try the Reinitialize yet, but it looks like that might be my only option. I finally found some Black_Tree_Gaming in %appdata%, but I couldn't find anything I could use. Thanks a bunch for your help.
HadToRegister
Also, make sure to make your new folder just C:\Games\Downloads\Vortex will automatically add the game folder when you start managing a gameBecause they way you have it now, it's going to end up beingC:\Games\Download\skyrimse\skyrimseC:\Games\Download\skyrimse\fallout4C:\Games\Download\skyrimse\oblivionC:\Games\Download\skyrimse\falloutnewvegasAnd what's going to happen because of that, is Vortex is going to start showing ALL your mods on the mod tab, no matter which game it is
